It is traditionally known as the last weekend of the summer. And let’s face it – we don’t get another three day weekend until when? So before it is over, why not enjoy it as much as possible?
Here are some great, inexpensive ways to enjoy your Labor Day weekend.
1. Enjoy your local parks
So many great places to enjoy the outdoors are just right down the street and we don’t even realize it. Find a local city park and enjoy a little R&R in the shade while the kids run free.
2. Find a beach
When celebrating the last weekend of the Summer, one should find some surf and sand to say good-bye.
3. Hit up a water park
If you don’t live near the ocean, find a nearby water park. This may be the last chance you have to enjoy a little fun in the water until next year.
This is a great weekend to enjoy a camp-out. It’s cheap, relaxing and a great way to get ready for the school year ahead.
5. Explore your own backyard
Hop in the car and go explore your neighborhood. You might be surprised by what you find in the next town over or even closer.
6. Go for a hike
Enjoy some of that great fresh air while the weather is perfect.
7. Enjoy a backyard BBQ with your neighbors
Fire up the grill and invite your favorite neighbors over while you host a pot-luck get together.
8. Catch up on some much-needed rest
Sometimes it takes a holiday weekend to just catch up on the sleep you’ve been missing during the busy work week.
9. Hit the stores for all the great sales
Labor Day weekend is host to tons of great sales, especially at car dealerships. Hit up the malls and be sure to check your Sunday paper for all sorts of great deals. Remember, it’s never too early to start shopping for Christmas!
10. Find a local museum or zoo
So many fun attractions in our own city are never visited by those who live there. Be a tourist for the weekend and find out why your town really is worth travelling to.
11. Catch a game
Whether it’s a college or high school football team or a minor league baseball game, there are many great sporting events that are inexpensive and tons of fun to attend.
12. Binge-watch your favorite show
You’ve got that Netflix account, why not put it to good use? All your co-workers at the office have been talking about the latest episode of that popular new show, but you haven’t had a chance to even watch season 1 – until now.
13. Hit the movie theater
Don’t be left behind when it comes to the latest releases on the big screen. Now is a great time to catch up on all the new releases.
14. Get to work on that to-do list around the house
We put these things off indefinitely all year long, swearing we will get to them as soon as we have time. Well, it’s time. Get started on all those little projects around the house. You’ll feel like you actually accomplished something this weekend!
15. Visit with your family
Even if they live too far away to actually visit in person, you can always call or Skype with friends and loved ones.
