This card has the most options for earning cashback. Also, it’s a great card for current members of the military because cardholders can earn cashback on purchases on military bases.

  • Annual 5% cashback on the first $3,000 in gas and military base purchases combined
  • Annual 2% back on grocery store purchases
  • Unlimited 1% cashback on all other purchases

2. Preferred Cash Rewards Visa Signature Card

This card will give you 1.5% cashback on all qualified purchases, and there is no limit on the amount you can earn.

USAA offers two secured credit cards: USAA Secured Card Platinum Visa and USAA Secured Card American Express. This type of card is geared toward people in need of building credit or credit repair.

With a $35 annual fee, this card comes with retail and travel benefits. Also, this card comes with special benefits for members on active duty. In addition, you can also earn variable interest on your balance.

To determine your credit limit, open a certificate of deposit at USAA between $250 and $5,000.

2. USAA Secured Card American Express

This card is very similar to the Visa secured credit card, including the same rates and fees. The main difference is that this card offers extra perks, including:

  • Rental car insurance is guaranteed for 30 days, rather than 15 days
  • Price protection is offered for up to 120 days after purchase, rather than the 60 days offered by Card #1
  • Concierge and travel assistance service, including emergency travel assistance
  • Emergency travel assistance: get information on travel requirements, including documentations (visas, passports), immunizations or currency exchange rates
  • Travel services medical assistance: provides access to a referral network of doctors, dentists, hospitals, and pharmacies in the area
  • Legal referral services: gives you access to English-speaking legal referrals or consultations with the correct embassies and consulates regarding your situation. Also, you can also get help receiving transfers of up to $5,000 in cash from a family member, friend, or business to cover legal fees or to post bail.

USAA Credit Card Credit Score Requirements

Aside from the secured cards, Clark says most of USAA’s cards require a “prime” credit score. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau considers a FICO score of 660 and up “Prime.”

Clark says that your credit score isn’t necessarily the final word. “While credit score is a primary tool for evaluation, we consider other options to evaluate the quality of the relationship and the individual’s risk profile.”
