Allstate Auto Insurance Overview

Allstate is a leading auto insurance company. It was founded in 1931 and has $108.6 billion in assets. Allstate differentiates itself from the crowd of online insurance companies by also providing local agents at over 12,000 brick-and-mortar agencies nationwide.

What Are Allstate's Auto Insurance Ratings?

A.M. Best gives Allstate an A+ rating. Standard & Poor’s rates it as AA- (its fourth highest rating), and Moody’s Investors rate Allstate with an Aa3 (the fourth highest score possible). The BBB gives Allstate an A- rating.

Customer reviews are mixed, but Allstate still has some of the highest customer satisfaction ratings among insurance companies. The company has a four-star rating with SuperMoney. Allstate received 861 points out of 1,000 in J.D. Power’s 2015 Auto Claims Satisfaction Survey, which is ahead of its main competitors: State Farm (857) and GEICO (854).

What Auto Insurance Coverage Does Allstate Offer?

Allstate offers a full range of auto and motorcycle insurance products. Clients can buy liability insurance, collision insurance, comprehensive insurance, uninsured insurance, underinsured motorist insurance, and personal injury protection.

Allstate also offers additional services, such as rental reimbursement, labor, and towing coverage. Drivers who work for ride-sharing companies, such as Uber, can also buy additional insurance, so they and their passengers are covered while working.

Clients can also buy Allstate’s Your Choice Auto program, which includes accident forgiveness. This means your first accident will not cause your insurance rates to increase, even if the accident was your fault.

How Does Allstate Compare With Other Auto Insurance Companies?

Allstate does not have the lowest premiums, but it doesn’t skimp on coverage either. Qualified customers, such as clients who have multiple policies, drivers with a clean record, retirees, and students, can all qualify for deep discounts. If you play your discounts right, you can benefit from superior coverage at cut-rate prices. To illustrate, customers with a good driving history can receive discounts of up to 45%.

Drivers who enroll in Allstate’s Drivewise program, which uses phone apps and devices to determine driving behavior and mileage, can receive further cuts. Clients who join Drivewise can save up to 30% on their policies. Most clients save around 13%.

Allstate takes such pride in its customer satisfaction that it is ready to bet six months of premiums you will be happy with how your claim is handled. To receive the refund, customers must complete a report specifying what they would like to see improve.
