they charge $5 a day for finance and interest which is illegal, you already have a contract that says that you should only pay 5% or $50 if your payment is late but they are making $20000 in illegal finance charges and interest plus other miscellaneous fees they create which add up another $10000 ($30000 in finance chgs) for a vehicle that only costs $20000, they steal in front of you, they want you to pay $50000 for a vehicle that was not worth $20000, wish dept of justice, attorney ...

Santander gave me a loan when only a few others would accept me, and they actually gave me the better interest rate of 18% which is still high but in my situation is not much else to expect. of course I don't buy a very expensive cars like everybody else seems to but they can't afford. I took less than the amount they offered and got a nice car and if you're behind in your payments any companies going to call and look for their money
I have paid 15 months on the car loan and $4,000 has been applied to interest and only $1,000 to the principle. I thought the lower the car balance the less interest I should pay. Santander is a scam and I would never get a loan with them again. Currently filing a lawsuit against them.
I have just signed a car loan note with Santander and I thank god that there are some banks like these around.
Even with a Great Crediable Co-Signer I couldnt get Financed Threw anyplace but this one.

The Customer Service may not be highly great but in saying this,
When you have a company that deals With high high risk loans like these guys do, you cant allow late payments or derferments,

I by all means knows what it is like to be in a bad situation Financially and know what it is like to struggle, But something to remember when choosing to not make your payment at all or on time, you just dissed the one company that had enough decency to give you one more chance...Keep that in mind all when making complaints about being harrassed for your payment or being harressed about making even a partial payment. These guys could have been like all the rest of the banks and also said NO to us............
I had my car loan with this company and I got sick and I coulnt make the payments I told them not to send two of these payments thru my bank and they did anyway so I called them and they said they coulnt do anything I would have to call my bank to get my money back. so tis is what I did, what aa company I would not suggest anybody doing business eith them.
I had my vehicle loan serviced by Santander since July 2011 and paid off the loan last month of March 2016 on a 60 month note. I had a terrible experience with them and if you could give a negative rating, I would have.
They do not refinance and because they are sub-prime lender, you will likely have a difficult time getting any vehicle refinanced with a third party. That would you are stuck with them until the end.

before payoff, they sent the notice of zero balance and title to the co-signatory's address who NEVER paid on the loan! Was going to surprise the wife for Easter with the notice, but they somehow "do not have record" of the primary borrower's address? Interesting how that is after I sent payment with my address posted on both the front of the envelope and the money order for 18 months!
They are unprofessional and full of crap. Not only will I never use Santander Consumer USA ever again by I highly recommend others stay far away from this predatory and screwy lender. Not worth the stress.

The reason why I still gave Santander 5 stars is because I DID know what my interest rate was going in, its not like it's a surprise, but I guess I didn't realize just how much that is, I can't knock them for that, they've been holding up their end of the deal.
I got a loan from this bank I haven't gotten their paper work but what I understand is you can make "principal "payment to the account this would help the interest go down when the interest is down your payment is still same but more money goes to principals( that how much you own for car) not the interest ..idk if some you guys are inform about paying different payment for principal besides you monthly payment am going to do it am going to keep records n keep you guys ...

My only issue is that my interest rate is high, but i can't blame them. I consider myself blessed that they took a chance with me and financed a $45000 car for me. With that being said, i am in the midst of finding someone else to refi my car to lower my car payment and interest rate. I haven't had any issues with them. Kinda surprised at the reviews.
NEVER AGAIN will I do business with Santander! They are literally the worst company EVER. Around the holidays an agent from Santander called and offered me a deferment. I thought it was normal practice to help out their customers during the holidays. Nope! My deferment offer was apparently denied, even though I never REQUESTED it! It screwed my credit, too!
Santander is the worst company ever! I spoke with my loan representative about getting a deferment, and they agreed to it. I guess they didn't put it in the system or something because I got a late notice on a payment. This is now showing on my credit score! They are the worst!!
If you have a loan through Santander, be sure to check your account often. After a while I noticed various “miscellaneous” fees on my account. They weren't specified at all, and I have never been late on my payments. They are just fees so the company gets more money.
I cannot explain how much of a headache this company has caused me. I am the ideal customer- I make all my payments just before the due date. Their crappy system locks my payment and doesn't process until DAYS after the due date. THEN they charge me with late fees, even though they caused it! Unbelievable.
The interest Santander charges is ridiculous! I have been paying them for over two years and still my loan amount is incredibly high. I feel trapped with no way out. I am planning on refinancing soon because I really can't take paying SO much every month and having only a small portion of it go to principle.
I had my auto loan through Santander. I had questionable credit, but they were still able to offer me a decent rate on a loan. Unfortunately, life sometimes hapens and I lost my job and I couldnt afford my car payments for a while. Every time I called their customer service team, they were able to help me make a small payment or other payment options - even when I was 3 months behind! They are a great company that will always work with you!
The people at Santander are so inconsiderate. After making ONE late payment, they had the audacity to call my job and while trying to get ahold of me, mentioned my late payment to the coworker who answers the phone. How rude and inconsiderate of them! They also call you a million times a day and refuse to leave you alone.
Horrible, horrible customer service! My wife had an issue and contacted them through the customer service line. After various attempts to get past the automated robot, my wife encountered a rude customer service rep. This rep was so horrible to the point where my wife got so frustrated and began tearing up. Never again.
Working with Santander has honestly been just one big nightmare. They “accidentally” put the incorrect car in my loan contract, which made the interest and payments higher. Customer service apologized and offered to fix it, but nothing has been changed on my account yet. Worst company ever.

I let them know right away when it happened. They ended up calling every single person on my reference list, including people I hadn't seen in years. So embarrassing and so awful of a company to do.

Santander is great when buying a car! Mine recently broke down and I needed a new one. Santander approved me instantly! I even got a pretty good rate, considering my credit score is only average. Their customer service department is pretty helpful too. I'm a satisfied Santander customer.
Santander decided to give me a pre-paid debit card instead of a check when they owed me some over-paid money. I didn't opt for the pre-paid card, but got it anyway. Also, it took over 30 days for me to get it in the mail. I even got my title before I got the card!
I have to say I've been pretty happy with Santander Consumer USA. I am close to paying off my loan, and so far, they've been nothing but helpful. I needed to defer a few payments over the length of my loan, and they were fine with it. I'd recommend Santander for car loans, and would use them again in the future.
Soon after I completed paying off my loan, I realized that I had over paid! Even including interest, I paid a little too much. They also have yet to update my information, so it continues to say that my loan is open and not paid off yet in my credit history.

If you're having troubles with them, don't even bother trying to utilize their online chat feature. I tried to speak with a representative and they obviously have no clue what they're doing. They also are not the nicest people to speak with. They are there to help you with issues on the website, and they do just the opposite.
Just an awful company. I was told that I could make my payment a few days late, and BAM! They call me anyway demanding my payment. They have awful communication because whoever told me paying a few days late didn't inform anyone else in the company. I can't wait until I don't have to deal with them.
Why is it impossible to get through to a live human being on their customer service line!! I am trying desperately to see when my title will be sent to me, but the automated robot I've been speaking with is no help at all. It seems impossible to get through to anyone!
These people have honestly no problem harassing you if you are slightly late on one payment. I needed to pay a week after the due date when something else came up, and they literally called me twenty times in one day. No exaggeration. What company harasses their paying customers like that??
