I'm not sure where this site got their info from on America First, but it's not accurate.
This credit union only requires a $1.00 initial deposit and they don't charge any monthly servicing fees. I've been with these guys for over 10 years now.
Whoever set this info up looks like they accidentally copied it over from the San Diego credit union description.
If you live near one of the branches, customer service is great. If you need to call, service can be kind of hit or miss, You need at least $25 to open an account and there is a $2 monthly fee. You can do better.
America First Credit Union is the absolute best! I love their accounts, interest rates, and overall customer service. Someone would have to pry me away from them to make to change credit unions. I'm very satisfied with everything they have to offer and highly recommend them.
It really stinks that AFCU does not have any branch locations near where I recently moved, but I did decide to keep open my account. I can't close it because they've been so great, I have no reason to. If they had a location near me to make it easier, that would constitute 5 stars, easily.
I continue to come back to AFCU for various reasons. They are the easiest financial institution to work with and have the most professional employees. I'm so impressed by them and will continue to come back for my banking and financial needs.
Before we married, my current husband had accounts with AFCU. He told me about how great they were so after we married, we got all our accounts through them. They've held up on their amazing service for all these years. We have no plans of switching credit unions.
AFCU is a decent credit union. I've had them for about three years and in that time I've only had one issue. Some people in their customer service department are not knowledgeable about certain things, and it seems that the people who are knowledgeable are not available all the time.
Don't even bother trying to call them to ask any questions. If you can't go and sit at a branch and wait for a teller, you are out of luck. I am always on hold for hours and hours, just because it is not convenient for me to go into the physical location. It is so irritating and I cannot believe their lack of concern for their customers.
I was actually added onto my boyfriends AFCU account when I got fed up with all of the banks that I'd previously tried. Turns out, AFCU was a great choice. We haven't had any issues since becoming joint members and I love the customer service. They are super helpful and efficient.
I am planning on cutting all ties with this credit union in the near future. They are so incompetent and have horrible communication. It has caused a bunch of issues for me because they don't know how to communicate within their own company. They don't deserve my business any longer.
How does a credit union not have enough ONES to give you?? I requested a couple hundred simply in ones from my account there, and was refused because they didn't have enough. I figured, if anything, a credit union would be my best bet. What a sad excuse for a financial institution.
With America's First Credit Union, you are just a number. You are not an important customer by any means. Unless you are planning on giving them a bunch of money, they do not care about you. After inquiring about an account, this was very obvious and I'm happy I left empty handed.
