The Desert Schools Federal Credit Union was launched in 1939 and serves people in the Phoenix area (Maricopa, Gila and Pinal counties). Checking accounts have a 0.2% account yield, a $25 minimum amount to open an account and a $7 monthly service fee. The monthly fee is waived when you have either a $750 direct deposit, 25 transactions per month or a daily minimum balance of $2,500. The penalty for nonsufficient funds is $35.
