Who is the Barclaycard Rewards Designed For?

The Barclaycard Rewards is designed for people with good credit who want to a straightforward cash back card with no annual fee. It is particularly good for people who spend a lot on gas, groceries or utilities. Qualifying for a larger credit limit is simple with this card, which also makes it a good option for people who want to further improve their credit score.

What are the Interest Rates for Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard?

Interest rates are on the high-end:25.24 variable APR for purchases and balance transfers and 25.49% for cash advances. There is no introductory APR either, so this is not a card you want to keep a balance on if you can avoid it.

What Are the Fees for Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard?

The Barclaycard Rewards card for good credit has no annual fee. The balance transfer fee is the standard 3% with a $5 minimum, and the cash advance fee is 5% with a $10 minimum. There's also a 3% foreign transaction fee, so you might want to leave this card at home when you're traveling abroad.

What Is Barclaycard's Rewards MasterCard Rewards Program Like?

The rewards program is the main attraction of this card. Cardholders receive 2x points on everyday purchases like gas, groceries and utilities and 1 point for every $1 spent on all other purchases. Members can redeem points as statement credits, statement cash backs, gift cards and merchandise. The minimum amount of points you can redeem is 1,000, which has a value of $10. The points never expire and there's no limit to how many you can earn. With the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard, you get the high reward rates of the Chase Freedom and Discover it cards without the hassle of quarterly sign-ups and rotating categories.

What about the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard Signup Bonus?

There's currently no signup bonus with this card.

Does the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard HaveAny Other Benefits?

The Barclaycard Rewards for good credit includes $0 fraud liability, free access to your FICO credit score. Members who make five on-time payments qualify for a credit line increase review. Receiving a larger credit limit can help improve a person's credit score, as long as the card is used responsibly.

How Is It Better Than Other Credit Cards?

Although this is a no-frills card with little in the benefits department, it does offer a generous rewards rate on everyday purchases without charging an annual fee. Redeeming points is simple and straightforward, and the benefits it does have, such as access to your FICO score and regular credit line increases, will be useful to everyone not just frequent fliers and big spenders.

My life imploded a year ago, complete with a bankruptcy. After crying my eyes out for a few months, I decided to pick myself up and do whatever I could to get my credit score going up instead of down. I saw some reviews on this card, including from people who had bankruptcy, and they got approved. I thought, what the heck, what do I have to lose? Well, nothing apparently. I got approved for $500, which I barely touched and when I did I paid it off each month ... and voila! My credit score is improving. More Less

Fabulous card that I tell everyone about. How often can you have lowish credit and get rewards, I don't know, but I do know that I use the rewards all of the time. I use the credit card to pay a whole bunch of bills, including everyday things that get you 2 points like my gas bill and my phone bill. I also love how there is no annual fee.

My credit limit and even my APR is pretty good with this card, considering that my score is 650, but the customer service leaves something to be desired. I have tried on three different occasions to get help by phone to ask some questions, but have not been impressed. Other than that it is a good card for those with so-so credit.

I really like how this card doesn't charge an annual fee, but there are no blackout dates on when you can use the points that you accumulate just making your normal, everyday purchase. I think that is rare in the world of credit cards. I've had other cards that had so many blackout dates it was impossible to use the points--what those other companies wanted, I'm sure. Barclay seems to want my business, so yay!

Great card as long as you aren't late on a payment. I was sadly late once and I paid the $35, even for my first time. I figured I could get it waived, but no. I do like the no annual fee, so I figure that $35 could be like my wakeup call no annual fee. The rewards rock. They are for a wide variety of things, including cash back and travel.

I'd read great things about this card for people with average credit, so I applied. It's been an okay experience. Not sure I would apply, though, if I'd known how many fees they can hit you with if you're not careful, such as the foreign transaction fee and the cash advance fee. If you don't use those things, though, you will be good.

When you have not so great credit, it's hard to get a card that will give you some perks. Well, this card does! I was thrilled to get approved, even if it was just for $1,000, because I knew that I was ready to get serious about getting my credit rating up high. (I'm planning to buy a house next year). I like how you get points for everyday purchases.

Really excited how this card reports to the three main credit bureaus, and you get to see your credit score! I've been working on getting my score up, because it was only midrange and I am going to try buying a condo in a few months. This cards is helping--up 50 points so far in six months!

Nice little card that I didn't know existed until just recently. I never used my card to pay basic things like my cellphone bill and my electricity, but when I saw that I got double points for paying for these things with the card, I decided to give it a try. What I do so that I don't go over my limit and I can pay my cc bill at the end of the month is that as soon as I pay a bill with the credit card, I go ... in and I pay off that amount on my credit card. It's working well. More Less

I had a not so great credit score when I applied, but I was approved. The credit limit was low at just $500, but I was doing it to get my FICO up and to be able to check my FICO, which they provide with this card. I'm being patient and paying on time and have seen my score rise a little. So I'm hopeful!

I'm totally amazed at how this card gives you so much, when you have so-so credit. I've had plenty of other cards with my not-so-great credit and I have been reemed by them! Horrible interest rates, high annual fees, no rewards. Not this card. I have rewards and no annual fee, and the interest is pretty good.

0 votes

Considering that my credit is less than stellar, I was shocked to find that this card offers so many great advantages without charging a fee! You get points, a credit score from all three bureaus and your credit score will go up if you tow the line and aren't late!

The 2 points for every dollar spent on this card makes it worth looking into getting. I have been getting a lot of points since I got the card. Do keep in mind, though, if you travel that the 3% foreign transaction fee is there and will sting! I would suggest not using the card once you get out of the country--just concentrate on using it within the country. Other than that it works well.

I was really surprised that this card doesn't charge an annual fee. I went to book a flight with the points I'd earned and I was shocked to find that there were no blackout dates! Almost unheard of! Also no limit on the points you can earn--so the sky truly is the limit!

Great card! The perks are incredible. In addition to a great rewards program that gives you 1-2 points for every dollar earned, they also give you your credit score from all three major credit bureaus! I am loving being able to check my score when I want.

Excellent card to get if you are trying to rebuild your credit. I had a few problems that I don't have space here to explain and that ended up in me having a low to average credit score. I discovered this master card by doing some online searching and saw they take average credit. I figured, that's me! So I applied and I was pleasantly surprised to be approved with a $1200 limit to boot. I'm already seeing my credit score rising after having the card for a few months.

Not really thrilled with the fact that the two times I applied for this card I got hit by more than one inquiry. You'd think they would be able to figure this out with the first one. Anyway, the second time I was approved, thank goodness, so I guess the inquiries were worth it. Other than that, I'm happy with the nice rewards to this card.

I really like how you get your FICO score by having this card. That way you can see that all of your effort at trying to raise your score is helping. I have seen my score go up considerably since I applied for this card almost a year ago. I have also really enjoyed all the points and the rewards you can get from the points.

So happy to have found a good card for a middle of the road credit score. I can't get approved for the really good cards and the one for poor credit don't have any perks and often have annual fees. Then I found the Barclay Rewards MC and that all change! I'm excited to have the card!

This is a nice no-frills card that isn't all confusing when you go to use your reward points. You don't have to wade through all of these rules and regs regarding when to use the points with blackout dates and how some purchases give more points, etc. You get 2 points of every dollar you spend. Period. So it is so nice and clear.

Interest is a little high on this card for my liking, but I have been impressed with the rewards program. I have fairly good credit, and didn't realize until I got a card that it is for average or lower credit. Now that I have it I'm paying it off every month, so the APR isn't that big of a deal for me. I do really like how you can check your FICO score.

Wish I'd found this card two years ago! I've had a card without any perks at all and I could have been earning points this whole time. When I applied, they gave me a quick $2,500 CL, and an APR of 25%. My credit score was in the toilet a few years ago, but I've been steadily pulling it up. I think this card is really going to help me do just that.

I had some health issues several years ago and my credit went into the dumpster. Getting this card has helped me start climbing again in terms of my credit score. I was happy that they let me get the card in the first place. It was a low limit--$500, but I've since gotten it raised several times to $2,500 now, so I am happy with it and the fact that I'm reestablishing my credit.

I had to declare bankruptcy about a year ago after my husband died the year before. Crappy time that saw everything go to crap, including my credit. So when I went to apply for this credit card I figured it was a lost cause, but it wasn't! I got approved with a small credit limit. Nice to have a card to use again!

No sign-up bonuses come with this card, because it does serve a population of people with low to medium credit. But they do have rewards points, which is a lot more than many cards can say. I've had other cards that had annual fees and no points and higher APRs. Now I'm just using this one.

0 votes

I know I should, but I don't always pay my balance off each month. That means I've had to pay the 24.9 percent interest that I have on this card. It's a little much for my taste. I do really like being able to check my FICO score when I want, and usually I want to do so quite often. I'm working on raising my score so I can buy a car in the near future.

I like how there is no fee with this card, but you do get some decent rewards to go along with it. These include two points for every dollar spent on utilities, gas and groceries and one point for everything else. You can also redeem the points in any way you wish--including cash and travel expenses.

I really like how this card provides you a monthly FICO score. I know I could get that elsewhere with a credit reporting agency, but I really like that they send it to me automatically. I also like the fact that I get 2 points on every dollar spent. That really adds up over time and helps to defray costs.

If you have average credit, then this is definitely the card to apply for. I applied with my FICO about 650, and I got approved. A low credit limit, but approved, nonetheless, which is something that was really exciting to me. I've been able to get other no-frills cards, but this is the first time I've been accepted for a rewards card, and I am a very happy person right now!

After bankruptcy a couple of years ago I figured I'd never see a shiny new credit card in my wallet ever again, but I was wrong! I applied for this card and I got $500 CL! I'm being really careful with it and paying on time and paying it off each time, and now 6 months later I'm seeing an incremental rise in my credit score.

I like this card for the travel perks that it has, as I am an intrepid traveler. They have no blackout dates when you go to use your points for travel expenses, and that is really big when you travel!! I'm going on my second trip after cashing in on some points. Looking forward to it. Of course, I'll use my card on the trip. :)

No blackout dates for flights when you go to use your travel awards makes this card worth having! But then there is so much more, like the fact that you get two points for buying things like groceries and gas and then there is the fact that there is no annual fee!!

No fees charged on this card and better still you don't have to keep track of what you get points on and what you don't and all that sort of jazz. I had another card but got so confused about what I was supposed to spend when and all of that that I don't think I got the full benefit. This card I just spend and the points stack up.

Super that this card has unlimited cash back that you can receive. Of course, you have to have a pretty good CL in order to rack up enough points to get a lot of cash back, but I'm working on that. Since I got my card I've paid it off and on time and have seen my CL continue to rise. Before long I'll have enough of a CL to pay all of my regular bills every month, which should see my points go up exponentially.

It's not often that you can have okay credit, or as I've seen in review, even bankruptcy and get a card that also pays you rewards. I was flabbergasted when I found it, to tell you the truth. I had always thought that since my credit was just okay that I wouldn't get rewards. Glad to be wrong about that. Love my card.

Great card for getting your act together and taking your credit on the road to much better things! I had so-so credit when I applied about a year ago. I got approved with a low CL, but figured, whatever, I'm just glad to get a card and was happy I was finally taking the whole thing seriously. I used the perk they have of being able to check your FICO score, and when I saw it continuing to rise, I got super serious. Here I am with a full 50 ... point rise and going! More Less

So far, really good with this card! I've gotten a bunch of points just buying the things that I buy everyday. It gives you two points for tghings like groceries and gas, and I buy them all of the time. One point for other stuff. I will have enough to get a flight to my mom's house in Detroit within a couple of months!

For many of my expenses, this is my go to card. I love how you get points for just about anything and everything. There is a difference in points depending on what you buy. You get more points for buying basics, which is great, because who doesn't need the basics? Less points for other things, yet still points.

I was amazed to find that this card doesn't charge an annual fee. I've found that many cards that help you build your credit back up charge those fees, but not this one. I was also happy to see that the rewards program is no joke. You do get 2 points and 1 point for every dollar spent, depending on what you spend it on.
