Who is the Chase Freedom Designed For?

Chase's Freedom Card is one of the best cash back credit cards with no annual fee available in 2015. It is designed for people who want a generous cash back card but don't want to pay an annual fee. The cash rewards program includes a substantial signup bonus and up to 5% in cash back in certain purchase categories.

What are the Chase Freedom's Interest Rates?

Interest rates go from 14.24% to 23.24% depending on your credit score. The range of interest rates is based on a rate of 10.74% to 19.74% above prime rate, which in January 2015 was 3.25 percent.

Freedom offers an attractive 0% introductory rate on purchases and balance transfers during the first 15 months. However, there is a 3% balance transfer fee to consider. The penalty rate if you're late on your monthly payments is 29.99%, and the cash advance rate is 25.24%.

What Are Chase Freedom's Fees?

Freedom is not a travel-friendly credit card. It charges 3% on the purchase amount of each foreign transaction. There is a $10 or 5% cash advance fee, whichever is greater, and a $5 or 3% balance transfer fee.

As well as a higher interest rate, cardholders must pay a late payment fee ranging from $15 to $37, depending on the balance of the late payment, and a $37 return payment fee.

What Is Chase Freedom's Rewards Program Like?

Freedom's reward program is straightforward and simple to use. Cardholders get 1% cash back on all purchases and 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in purchases in revolving categories every three months. In 2015, for instance, members could save 5% in grocery stores from January to March, in dining from April to June, in gas stations from July to September and on Amazon.com from October to December.

What about Chase Freedom's Signup Bonus?

Chase's Freedom card offers a $100 cash bonus, if you spend a minimum of $500 within the first three months. You can qualify for an additional $25, if you add an authorized user to the card. The bonus is only for new members and the account must be open and payments current for the bonus to be honored.

Does the Chase Freedom Have Any Other Benefits?

Although primarily a cash back card, Freedom tracks rewards as points that can be converted into cash or redeemed through any of the redemption opportunities offered by the Ultimate Rewards program. These include flights, car rental, hotels and Amazon.com purchases. Every point is worth a cent. So 20,000 points can be redeemed for $200.

How Is Chase Freedom Better Than Other Credit Cards?

It is rare for a card with no annual fee to allow users to rack up rewards as high as 5% of purchases. With a little planning, you can earn up to $300 a year just on the bonus categories. Add to that the $125 signup bonus, the no limit rewards on additional purchases, and that you can convert the points to Chase's Ultimate Rewards program, and you have a winning card for people with good credit who don't want to pay annual fees.

I also had an experience similar to one mentioned by someone else. I got a pretty good sized credit limit and once I paid off about half or 2/3 of it they reduced my credit limit down to what I'd paid off. Messed me up, becuase I'd planned on using the card. Now it's maxed out, and that affected by credit score negatively.

Great customer service with this card. I had someone steal my card when I was traveling and I called and they took care of things so quickly that I felt my head spinning. I was expecially impressed since this is an issue that I've had trouble with getting speedy help with at other places.

I see a lot of excellent reviews for this card, but I've had some trouble with it. Primarily in the area of my credit limit. I got a good CL of $7500 initially, which enabled me to transfer a balance. All was going along well until I got a new job and began making substantially more money. In response, I decided to start making larger payments onto my credit card. Once I got the $7500 halfway paid off, they responded by cutting my credit line down to that amount! If ... they continue to do the same as I pay off the card it will become useless. Not to mention they're screwing up my credit with this mumbo jumbo. More Less

I originally got this card because I wanted one that would give me the introductory 0 percent interest rate for the first months. I had to get my car worked on and didn't have the cash available. I got the card and it did what I wanted it to in terms of 0 percent to give me time to pay it off, but now I'm keeping it after I see all of the great perks of having the card--especially the cash back and the no annual fee.

I read about this card in Money Magazine. It had gotten some kind of award for being a good card. I figured why not give it a try. So happy I did. I am going to ditch my other cards--or at least not use them anymore. Why would I? This card gives me such good cash back rewards that I wouldn't want to use anything else.

Great card. You can really wrack in the cash back if you buy the right merchandise in terms of what is getting the 5% discount at the time, but I also really like how you get 1% cash back no matter what. I'm not much into looking up where I should buy stuff for the 5% discount, but I like how I get some back no matter what.

What a great cash back program offered through this card! I can't believe there is no annual fee!! It seems incredible to me considering all of the great perks you get with this card. I loved the signup bonus. I got the $100 and I got an additional $25 because I signed up my husband, too. I also like getting 1% cash back on all purchases and the 5% back on the revolving categories.

Love this card! I get so much money back with the 5% back it is amazing. I've had other cash back cards, but this one tops them all. If you are into getting cash back, I would definitely recommend it. Be sure to check on the categories that are offering the 5% back to make sure you buy the right stuff.

I haven't seen too many other credit cards where you can get so many rewards and don't have to pay an annual fee in return. This card is incredible that way. If you play your cards right--LOL, excuse the pun, you can take full advantage of the 5% cash back. They do that in certain categories. I saved $250 dollars recently when I bought a $5,000 item that was in one of the categories. Good stuff!!

I had some trouble with finances and my credit about 8 years ago. I'm still trying to recover and this card is helping me do that. I didn't even think I would get a card, but I did with a credit limit of $500 a few months ago. They've already raised my credit limit and I'm seeing my FICO score inch back up.

I looked for a long time for a cash back card that was going to give me good rewards for being a customer. This one takes the cake! I am totally blown away that there is no annual fee and that your rewards never expire. Who does this anymore? Chase Freedom does!

My FICO score is about 660, so I was pleasantly surprised when I got a Chase Freedom card to begin with and then that I got a credit line of 1200. I honestly thought that I wouldn't even get a card, but I did! Now I can take advantage of the perks of owning this card--primarily the 5% back when you buy certain categories.I would suggest trying to apply even if you think your FICO might be a little low.

The revolving categories with this card are kind of confusing. You get 5% back, but only on certain things every three months. Consequently, I don't always remember what's what and don't always get the full benefit, but even if the 5% isn't in effect you get 1%, so thta's something.

If you want even better cash back savings with this card, shop through chase on their website and you get a super boost to that cash back savings. I think that this card is excellent all the way around, but of course the cash back makes it a premium find.

A lot of cards only allow you to redeem for statement credit or gift cards, but Chase Freedom lets you redeem for those two things and cash, as well. Once you hve $20 or more to redeem, you can get a statement credit with the cash or direct deposit. I go for the direct deposit. I like to take my money and run!

Earning rewards on this card is a little tricky to understand, but once you get the hang of it, it's really easy. It's not that you don't earn the rewards, but you have to know the best way to go about it. And then, of course, understand how they are being divied up.I figured it out not too long ago and have been thriving.

The application process for this card went really smoothly. So smoothly I was shocked when I was pretty much instantly approved with a credit limit of $500. I am fairly young and new to credit cards, so this was a good sign for me. I've had friends who have had trouble getting credit. Looking forward to seeing my credit limit go up.

This is pretty much a cash back rewards card, and I usually use it like that, but there are opportunities to get gift cards and to redeem cash back on Amazon, which I do often, since I oftten get things on Amazon. There isn't an annual fee, so no need to worry about that.

There are so many ways to earn bonuses and cash back with this card. I just discovered after I'd had the card for a few months that I can also earn cash back on anything that my wife gets on her card. So add authorized users, as well. It will pay dividends!

I like this card because it doesn't have an annual fee and I used the 0 percent interest to my advantage when I first got the card. What really irks me is the fact that you keep having to reactivate your bonus for 5%. I have forgotten to do that and haven't gotten those bonuses. Annoying!

I really like the cash back boost you get from this card. If you shop through Chase, you can earn up to 15% cash back, which is amazing. I'm a shopper, so I love those percentages. If you're a shopper, too, I'd suggest liking them on FB and getting into any mailing lists so you can hear about all their great deals.

I have a pretty good credit score--about 760, so I thought that I should get the lowest APR available, which was about 13.99% when I applied for the card. Not! I got an APR of 20.99%, which I thought was really high. They did give me a pretty high CL, though, at $8500,00, but at that APR I don't want to use it for much.

Chase Freedom offers cardholders 5 percent cash back on selected categories every quarter. You can earn additional cash back by adding an authorized user or “liking” Chase on Facebook. You can redeem your rewards for Amazon gift cards, statement credits or direct deposits into your bank account. If you are a frequent car renter, you can forget about the dreaded Collision Damage Waiver charges – that's included, along with roadside assistance. You also receive zero liability purchase protection and extended warranty for all purchases. There are no annual ... fees and an introductory 0 percent APR for the first 15 billing cycles. After that your APR ranges from a decent 13.99 percent to a stiff 22.99 percent, depending on your creditworthiness. The downsides? You have to activate your account every three months to be eligible for the 5 percent cash back bonus. if you miss a payment, go over your limit or have a payment returned, you're hit with a penalty APR of 22.99 percent that can remain indefinitely. My experience with this card has been great. I love the 5% cash back categories and love the customer service. One example was when I went to Utah some months ago and I used my Freedom card in Las Vegas to get gas. I got declined (because I didn't tell them I was traveling) and had to use my regular debit card. They STILL gave me the cash back points of my gas purchase since it was 5% for that quarter. I'm hooked, I don't ... ever use my debit card to make any purchases. More Less
