Who is the Citi Prestige Card?

The Citi Prestige card is designed for high-end frequent fliers with excellent credit who want to earn extra rewards on their travel purchases and value luxury travel benefits. The high annual fee will be prohibitive for many, but if you travel abroad with any regularity, this prime card quickly pays for itself in first-class benefits.

What are the Rates?

The Citi Prestige has a fixed rate of 15.49% APR for purchases and balance transfers.

What Are the Fees?

The Citi Prestige has a $450 annual fee, which isn't waived the first year. If you're wondering what could possible justify such a large annual fee, read on.

What Is the Rewards Program Like?

The Citi Prestige has generous and flexible travel rewards program. There are no points cap and points never expire. The rewards rates are 3 points for every $1 spent on travel purchases, 2 points for every $1 on dining and entertainment and one point for all other purchases.

Cardholders can redeem points for travel, electronics, statement credits, gift cards or even transfer them to other travel loyalty programs, such as Flying Blue Air France, Virgin Atlantic and Hilton Honors. However, smart members will use their points to pay for air travel through Citi's ThankYou travel center. If you use your points to pay for air travel, your points are worth 33% more. The air travel bonus increases to 60% when used to purchase American Airlines and US Airways flights.

What about the Signup Bonus?

New members receive 30,000 bonus points if they spend $2,000 in new purchases within the first 3 months. If you use your bonus points to pay for flights on American Airlines, that is a total value of $480. This perk alone makes the card pay for itself, at least for the first year.

Any Other Benefits?

The big selling point of this card is the huge list of travel perks it includes. The Citi Prestige Card may be expensive but it includes prime benefits such as

- $250 in air travel credit - Complimentary 4th night for any hotel stay - Access privileges to Admirals Club lounges - Global entry $100 credit - Worldwide concierge

It also includes valuable benefits included in most travel rewards cards, such as fraud protection, price rewind, 90-day return protection, an extended warranty of up to one year, worldwide car rental insurance, travel accident insurance, roadside assistance, lost baggage and baggage delay protection, medical evacuation, and trip cancellation, interruption or delay protection.

How Is It Better Than Other Credit Cards?

The Citi Prestige is a prime credit card stacked with luxury travel benefits. The annual fee may be high, but the first-year signup bonus, the air travel credit, the complimentary 4th night, the access to airport lounges and the travel insurances included make it a deal for frequent travelers who like to do so in style.
