I had fire in my building, my apartment took a severe smoke damage. I had to evacuate the place and stay in a hotel until I found a new place. All State reimbursed me for all the lost belongings, for my grocery, eating out and the hotel.

Not only did the insurance adjuster take care of everything from taking photos of the losses to filing the whole document (which the other tenants had to do from scratch - with other insurance companies) but also the reimbursement took no time, unlike what ... my neighbor experienced with their insurance company. All State gave me the best experience out of the disaster we had, they were fair, fast and understanding. More Less

I really like the low deductible of $250 that Allstate offers. Let's face it. If you're renting, you probably don't have a grand lying around to pay a deductible--especially after you've been broken into. I am feeling glad that I have a good insurance company and that I can pay the deductible if need be.

They have a great estimate calculator that helps you estimate the value of your belongings, which can guide you in choosing your best renters insurance policy. I would suggest using it. I did and it really helped when I had some vandalism and filed a claim.

If you've got a lot of really expensive stuff, then this company probably isn't for you, as they don't tend to cover as much as other insurance companies. If you are on the low end of having stuff like I am, though, they are perfect, as their rates are competitive and comensurate with what you own.

I had to file a claim with Allstate recently for some damage to my apartment and resulting damage to some of my belongings. They were friendly and courteous and sent me my money so I could make replacements in a timely fashion.

Allstate insurance is great. It has a great reputation and I know that I'll be adequately covered if and when I need the insurance. The only thing I didn't like is that they don't have as many discounts for certain things like other insurance companies, so you can't get the rate down much from what they quote you.
