After years of paying for renters insurance I finally had to make a claim because the garage at the home I am renting started leaking real bad during a storm we had, everything inside got wet and ruined and Safeco told me they wouldn't even look at it,they said I needed flood insurance ! Flood insurance is for rising water not falling water ! Beware

Really good people working there and have always like them. But costs are rising and need to see if anyone else offers better rates! ! I'm taking my business elsewhere and others should too!! Good riddens Safeco!

I've had people suggest that I just skip the renters insurance since I don't own a home, but I think that's just a bad idea. After seeing my sister have to deal with a big loss because she didn't have renters insurance, I decided to get myself covered. Now I can rest easily knwoing Safeco has my back.

They offered NO explanation and didn't care one bit about loyalty! We have been with Safeco for 20 years and not once did we ever have any issues. Then in last 12 months, our rates for Auto/Home/Renters have gone thru the roof. Our auto went from $370/mos to $690. Our homeowner policy pretty much stayed the same.

I think that Safeco is topnotch. You figure this out the first time you call and someone answers and is really motivated to answer all of your questions. Then they are also equally motivated to help you if you have a problem and need to file a claim.

I went with this company because they have really good rates. So when I had to file a claim because a friend slipped and fell and hurt her hip, I was wary that things would work out well. Well, they did. Safeco paid, and my friend was happy, and I can breathe a sigh of relief.

My agent for Safeco was AAA and they tried to inquire about a reason and they wouldn't tell them anything! Even when I threatened to cancel, they could care less. We found another national carrier that saved us with Auto/renters over $500/ year.

I'm not really happy about the fact that I've been with Safeco for 15 years and I haven't had any renters insurance claims, but they keep raising my rate. Yes, i's a little a year and I guess you could say it's for cost of living increase, but why not take it out of the policy of those who have actually needed their insurance?

I recently used my renters insurance with Safeco and now I'm really worried that my rate is going to skyrocket. They did pay the claim, which is good, but I shudder to think how much that cost me. I will find out next month, I guess.

I would leave them 0 stars if I could and wish I had read these reviews before. They truly do have the worst customer support and in general are horrible. Was with them for a year and then I get a letter stating that they don't want to renew my insurance.

They let me know a few days before the renewal date that they would renew my policy. However, with out telling me, they jacked up my rate by an additional $100 dollars and the only way I found out was through the bill. I immediately cancelled and searched for a new provider but they still charged me for the higher rate that I never gave consent to for the 11 days I was under them. Called and tried to explain with their support but they were not helpful and rude!
