This card helped me get my foot in the door with my credit score. I started off with zero credit and now am at 700+. It has made my life a lot easier in terms of getting loans out and other financial situations. Thanks, Journey! You've really helped me with my credit building.
This was my first credit card, and I've had many since then, but this remains my favorite one. The rewards are really good and the interest doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. It's meant to build credit but I've kept it because it is a great card.
I used CK to get a card that would help rebuild my credit (it was in shambles) and this was it. They said my chances of approval were fair but I was approved right away. The limit was low but hey, I have to start somewhere. I'm being responsible with this card and am happy I got it.
Best card out there!! I got approved right away. I love the app that shows my balance, credit score, and everything. I couldn't be more pleased with a card geared towards building up credit. It helps us college kids be responsible with our money.
This is the perfect first card for college students. I get to see my credit score easily with the app, which keeps me in check. I get email notifications whenever a purchase is made which is also helpful to avoid any fraudulent charges. I would recommend the Capital One Journey card to anyone.
I got this card after being denied by other companies, because of my bad credit. I just had a lack of credit, that's why it was so bad. I used this to make little purchases and paid it off at the end of the month. I'm very pleased with this card and would get it again.
I was surprised at the cards I looked at that had annual fees. What student has the money for annual fees? I also like how there are no foreign transaction fees. I am located near the Mexico border so me and my college friends often go over there when we're on break. Nice not to have any fees tacked on.
I am a student in my fourth year of studying for my bachelors, and I hadn't gotten a credit card yet. I had heard it was difficult and thought it would be a hassle. I applied for this card and it's great. I got a $500 limit to start, which I thought was good. I'm paying it off on time, which has meant that I get a bonus and I get one percent back on purchases. I don't make all that many purchases, since I'm living on a student salary, ...
but that every bit always helps.
When you have average credit, a finance charge of 19 percent or so like this one has isn't all that bad. I'm not saying it's all that great, but you can do worse. You also have the option of paying the thing off in time and not paying anything, which is what I try to do every month.
I'm very happy with the Journey card. Getting closer to finishing school made me want to build up my credit, which this card helped me do. Now I have an established credit history and have upgraded to another Capital One credit card. I highly recommend the Journey card.
This car is all you need as a college student! There are no annual fees, which is good because what student could pay them anyway. The rewards program with the card is totally sweet. You get points for spending--no gimmicks or restrictions--just points.
I've had disappointing experiences with some credit cards--student and otherwise. It seems like I sign up with high hopes, they do approve me, but then all of the beneftis I was supposed to have aren't there when it comes time to make use of them. This Journey card does give you one percent back on purchases. I know, because I see it accrue on my card.
If you are a student with no credit, this is absolutely the best credit card to get started! It's somewhat no frills, but it does have some perks. Like the one percent back on purchases and no annual fee. There is a fee on cash advances, like most cards. I'm not doing much traveling nowadays, since I'm trying to finish school so I can get a real job, but there aren't any transaction fees either. Pretty straight forward card.
I absolutely loved this as my first credit card. I got in while in college and it really helped me build up my credit. When I got it, I had nothing, now I have a decent credit score with a history of credit! I couldn't be happier. No issues at all.
I was really excited to get approved for this card. Not only because it's my first card, but because they have added benefits I didn't see on other cards, such as the credit tracker that gives you your credit score. And it is also great to get rewards.
This card is "da bomb"! I have okay credit, which I found out when I checked it recently, and no other credit cards yet, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to get a card, but I figured I better get on it and get one before I graduated, at least. I got a card with a good credit limit. I'm enjoying the perks of getting 1 percent back on purchases and like how you don't have to do all of these certain things to get the cash back, ...
like I saw on some cards.
This is my first card, so I was stoked when after five payments I got a credit line increase like they said I would get. I went form my initial credit line of $500 to $1500. I have also been seeing my credit score go up since I got the card. When I started, my score was 630, but now it is at 650.
The only card I had prior to getting my own Journey Student Rewards card was one that I got with my mother when I graduated from high school. I got tired of having that card knowing that it also has her name on it, so I applied for and got this great card.
If you are the typical student, this is the card for you. There is no annual fee at all and you get a lot of points back for cash, which is amazing considering that this is a card for students who don't yet have credit built up or who are working on it. I am really glad that I took the time to apply for it.
I thought I was going to get stuck with a secured card or a card through my parents--both of which would have been totally lame. Then I found the Journey card. It's an unsecured "real" credit card, and it's all mine. I got it by myself, and I'm enjoying the perks of having it.
I got this card during my junior year of college and now though I've graduated I still really love the card. I've now got my first job, but still not making much more than when I went to school. I use the card sometimes, and it's nice that it is helping my credit score go up.
This card has a lot of good things about it. You get reward points--1 percent back on purchases and they give you your credit score. It was also pretty easy to apply and they gave me a low credit limit of $300, which they've since raised since I've been making payments on time. I would have to warn about the APR, though, which is at nearly 20 percent.
Make sure you don't use this card for cash advances. I learned the hard way that they can be really expensive. I needed some cash to pay a parking fine at the school, because my school stopped taking credit card payments. Painful experience.
The cash rewards really make this card worthwhile. I wasn't too interested in cards that give you reward points to buy stuff online, because I'm not buying much online these days as I struggle to get through school so thta I can get a good job. Those reward points could be used later. I need cash now.
This card is specifically designed for college students. I am in my fourth year getting my bachelors, so I got it just in time. I will probably go on for my masters, though. I like the card because it encourages you to payyour bill on time. You get a bonus for doing so. I also like the no annual fee.
Great card for a student like me. I have okay credit, and I got approved for the card. I really like how there is just the 1% cash back without a lot of categories to check before you buy, which I would never do. I've also gotten the 25% bonus every month that I've had the card, because I've paid on time.
I really like this card in terms of the points system and the fact that there is no annual fee. I was also really happy when I got the card. My problem with the card has been the fact that they've barely budged my credit limit since I got it. I always pay on time and I don't even keep much on it revolving, but they don't seem to want to give me much more in credit. :(
Don't go for this card if you have good credit or plan to carry a balance. The interest rate is high. However, they accept students with so-so credit. The rewards program is decent, so it's a good place to rebuild your credit and get some cash back in the process.
I though it was funny when I read that this card is for students with average credit, because I thought, how many students have excellent credit if they're young, anyway? It turned out that I got a card from them and I've been paying the little amount I put on it each month off, and I really like geting the percentage back, and the fact that there is no annual fee.
Totally cool card! I had no credit before I applied for this card and had been trying to get credit with other cards but no one would give me a try. Journey understands students and their lives and the fact that they may not yet have credit! I would recommend it to any college student.
Really great starter card for a student like me. I am new to credit cards, but I wanted a card that also gave me some rewards. This is that card. I get 1% back on purchases I make, and they give a bonus when you pay on time. There are also no annual fees.
Perfect first card. They give you a card, even if you have so-so credit. It's not a really high credit limit to start, but $500 is all I needed. Then they raised the limit really gradually over the next year. I also really like the points you get for everyday spending.
This is a good card. I am new to getting credit cards, though, and I didn't realize that the cash advance fee would be so high. Other than that, it has been a good experience. I also like how there are no annual fees or foreign transaction fees. The latter is going to come in handy this summer when I go overseas.
I almost didn't apply for this card, because I didn't want to hassle with it and because I honestly didn't think that they would approve me. I am so glad that I decided to dive in and just apply! Now I have an awesome credit card and I'm building my credit. And then it's also good to have a card to pay for things with.
I needed to build up my credit and opened a Journey card. In no time I had something on my credit report! I'm very pleased and so far, nothing has gone wrong. I would definitely choose Capital One again if all their cards are like this one.
I really like this card and the fact that I got it all on my own. I wasn't sure since I'd never gotten another credit card before if they were going to give me the card, but I was pleasantly surprised when they did! It's been a great card. I love the points for cash back.
I'm a senior now, but when I was a sophomore, I got a credit card and made a mess of things with it. I didn't pay on time a few times and ended up maxing it out and eventually lost it. Now that I'm older, I'm ready for a card, but of course my credit score wasn't so ready. Fortunately, Capital One decided to give me a chance. I got a card with a $500 credit limit three months ago, and I've been paying it off on time and not ...
going overboard using it.
This is an excellent card to have if you don't plan on carrying a balance. There is no annual fee, and you get one percent back on all purchases without any gimmicks or limitations on that. I'm figuring it's pretty easy to qualify as long as you don't have bad credit, because I have okay credit and did qualify.
Prior to getting this card, I looked at a bunch of what were supposedly supposed to be "student cards." Well, a lot are not that conducive to students and what they need and how they live. This one is. You only need average credit and they don't give you too big of a credit limit, so you can't get in deep you know what.
I recently just got this card, for the 1st year there is no interest charged. I have also earned some money back. So far so good, but I will be back to post again once I have had this card for more than 1 yr.
