I really like Mercury auto insurance. I got quotes from various insurance companies, and Mercury offered one of the best. Applying for a policy was easy and simple. I've called various times with questions and they have the best customer service. Every time I call they are so polite and professional. I haven't had any issues with filing claims. That department seems to be just as good as the customer service. I'd recommend them for their low rates and good service.
The claims department at Mercury is horrendous. I was hit while stopped at a stop sign, so I was completely not at fault. I filed my claim and was assigned to a claims representative. We spoke once, and then it took me over a week to get in touch with him again. He was never available when I called, during working hours, and never returned my calls. What kind of claims rep isn't available during regular working hours? Why didn't he call me back? I'd go with another company and ...

I have been a Mercury customer for several years now, and I do not have any complaints. Their rates are competitive, their customer service representatives are helpful, and when I had to file a claim a year ago, it was handled quickly.
My claims adjuster was extremely unprofessional and unreliable. He failed to return my calls and after an entire week, I FINALLY was able to get in touch with him. He didn't seem to care one bit about my claim, or the fact that I had to hitch rides to get to work. I was never offered a rental car or any options. My adjuster pushed me to pay deductibles, but didn't push to get any other sort of compensation or coverage to fix my vehicle. It was the worst, longest ...

I have had my policy with Mercury for just over a year now, and everything was fine until I recently got into a minor fender bender. They were nearly impossible to ever get ahold of, but eventhough I got the run-around for a while, they did finally clear everything up.
Worst. Insurance. Company. Ever. My car was damaged while sitting my in my driveway and I requested a claims adjustor come out to assess the damage. We couldn't figure out a schedule at the time, so I told them I'd give them a call back the next day. Apparently, they sent out someone to look at my car when I wasn't home. I've never experienced such horrible customer service, much less with an insurance company. I was in an accident during a storm and needed to file a claim. I called repeatedly for two weeks, and never received a call back. When I finally got in touch with someone, they told me I should've filed earlier. They were extremely rude and made it seem like I waited two weeks to file a claim. I will never do business again with such a poor run company.
I am really confused by Mercury insurance and who I am really covered under... I got a quote on line from Mercury, but now I am receiving emails from AIS telling me to make a payment. Why can't they just tell me that they are going to switch me to a different carrier. Makes me have less faith in the other things they say.
I've been a loyal Mercury customer for around 8 years, but that doesn't mean a thing to this company. I was involved in an accident and was given a quote for the damages. When I went to get the second part of my vehicle fixed that was damaged (that was included in the quote) my claim was denied. Apparently since the first part was fixed they thought the second part could have been a previous accident. They really screwed me over, as I had to pay for the rest myself.
Mercury is a great insurance company when you need to file claims. They are pretty good in general, but when I've filed claims with them, there customer service shines. They take care of you when you need it most. All of my claims were treated with respect and I received fair compensation. They made sure, each and every time, that I had a rental vehicle to get to and from work. They get that people are already busy and they make everything easy for you.
If you have to file a claim with this less than amazing company, you're screwed. Save yourself now, and get out before you can. The claims department took over a week to get someone out to look at my car. Then, the claims adjustor took another week in order to start processing my claim. My calls were never returned, and I ended up paying a huge chunk out of pocket. I even paid for my own rental car! They are awful, and I advise you to get car insurance elsewhere.

I had Mercury insurance for 11 years and found them to have the best rates without sacrificing customer service. Regarding claims, which unfortunately in the past I had too many experiences with, they were responsive, professional and helped me throughout the process.
I had a fence blew down during a wind storm and Mercury had a settlment check to me within 3 weeks for the repairs. They were easy to reach but it took a little longer then expected to get our settlement.
I would be very careful about using this insurance company. Of course, no one ever wants to have to file a claim, but if you do it is nice to know that your insurance company is on your side. Not the case with Mercury. I felt like I was to blame when the accident wasn't my fault!
I talked to a representative to get a quote for my wife's car, my car and our son's car. They gave me a great rate, so I decided to go forward. When they sent me the paperwork, the rates were totally different. Good thing I checked! This dishonesty alone makes me have second thoughts about using them.
Mercury was a pain to work with for the entire 4 years I was with them, and then they had the audacity to charge me $150 for cancelling my policy with them. There insurance is so crappy and the company sucks, why wouldn't I switch? They are so shady and would not resolve my claims, even when I obviously was not at fault. There customer service is horrible, and they are not at all apologetic when something goes wrong. Go somewhere else, get decent insurance with a reputable company.

Can't really understand why Mercury would have anything other than an A rating. Best prices, best coverage, best service. All are requirements for insurance companies.

Mercury has been great. My rates are always competitive and very seldom are raised.
My agent is responsive but Mercury is very antiquated in their billing. They don't let you pay your monthly payments with a credit or debit card, only directly from a checking account. I found them to be the least expensive out of all insurance carriers.
