I've tried various times to get through to someone at the Wawanesa office to figure out about adding my son to my policy. Since everything is done over the phone, I can't rely on doing it online. I've called about 10 times over the period of two weeks. Each time I call it just rings and rings. I'm not sure what's going on, because they've been really good car insurance for us for a few years now..

This company is sooooo slow when communicating with you. First off, you can't really do much online. So you have to call. And wait. And wait. I've found that it's about a 30 minute wait time. The quickest I've gotten a hold of someone was 25 minutes. Woo-wee!! Also, they want to do a lot of business over snail mail. Snail mail. It is called that for a reason. It is soooo slow. Everything you get from them, you will be waiting. Waiting to send something in, for them to ... process it, then to receive a response. More Less

I have been with Wawanesa for way too many years to count. They were great, reliable, and always there, so I kept them on board. Last month I got my bill from them and it showed a 25% increase on my premium. There was no note why, so I called. I called once, no one picked up. I called the next day and was put on hold for 35 minutes before I got mad and hung up. I'd already given them my name, but it's been a week and they ... have yet to call back. More Less

I really wish Wawanesa offered local agents and local offices. I live fairly close to the main office in CA, but not close enough where I can just stop by if I have a question. I had to leave my old insurance company because Wawanesa offered me a policy I couldn't refuse, but I do miss driving to the office and speaking with my agent directly. Wawanesa's insurance agents are great over the phone, don't get me wrong, but I like the personal aspect.

It absolutely blows my mind that a company can keep you on hold for HOURS!!! Yes, you read right, hours. Not minutes, not seconds, HOURS. I've been on hold a total of six hours in the past TWO DAYS alone. That's only counting my most recent calls. I haven't kept track before simply because I didn't realize it would be so long. They don't take into consideration that you have a life and need to get on with things. Move on from them!

In this day in age, how is Wawanesas website so old school?!? I misplaced my insurance card and tried to get a copy of it online..you can't even do that! I thought that was pretty standard when it came to auto insurance. Heck, other insurance companies even have apps!! I had to call their customer line and get my insurance cards by mail... a week later. I had to drive around without insurance cards! Luckily I'm a safe driver and wasn't pulled over.

Wawanesa is an amazing insurance company. I actually ended up looking at reviews online AFTER I made the commitment of getting a policy with them, and it honestly frightened me a little. But over this last year, they've been great! My phone calls are always returned within a few hours (or the next business day if it's after hours) and the employees have always been courteous. I've had a great experience, despite the bad reviews here on the internet.

I've been a Wawanesa customer for many years and have added/subtracted various cars from my policy. My husband and I have four kids who we've had to add/take away from our policy. We've also gotten new cars/sold old ones. This is all relevant because every time you make a change to your policy (and we've made many), you have to call in. The wait time to get an agent on the line is way to long. It's also you're only option, so you have no other choice. They need to ... update their website and make it easier for us. More Less

Wawanesa's old-timer business policies really confuse me. First, nothing is done online. I think you can make a payment, but that's it. I usually call to make payments anyway, so it doesn't matter. But you can't get a quote or anything. Second, they don't let you know your renewed premium amount until a few weeks before you have to renew. You get a policy offer in the mail with your new premium, that's all. You can't estimate it or get an idea ahead of time. For someone who likes to ... plan, it's not a good business decision... I can't believe how people are treated when they file claims through Wawanesa! I've never, ever, in my life, ever had a problem with this insurance company. They've been good for the past several years. I filed my first claim (not my fault! I was hit while stopped at a red light) and my agent was the worst thing imaginable. She was so rude and condescending. I tried giving her to benefit of the doubt, but she continued that way through the entire ordeal.

I refuse to renew my policy with Wawanesa Insurance simply because they are impossible to get a hold of. I haven't filed any claims so I haven't needed them in any dire situations, but on a day to day basis, they are not there. I'm not sure if they are not available or are busy or whatever. I don't want a company that will not answer and return my phone calls in a timely manner. After only 6 months with them, I am switching to another company.

Wawanesa needs to update their website so I can get a quote from them. I'm a working parent with three kids, and it would be so much more convenient if I could do everything online. Instead, I had to call and speak with a representative to get an auto insurance quote. I had to do it on my lunch period and it took the entire time. Even better, Wawanesa should make their site mobile-accessible so I can do it from my smart phone.

Wawanesa offers some of the best auto insurance rates out there. Everyone knows that when you are a new(er) driver, you're going to pay high, high rates. But when I turned 23, I figured I'd been driving for a while and was sick of paying such a high premium. I got a quote with Wawanesa, and they were able to save me over $100 per year. I've been with them for a few months now and so far, so good.

I have to say I respect Wawanesa for staying so small. Working with a smaller company can really save you money in the long run. In my opinion, when a company starts running commercials and advertisements, that money is coming directly out of the consumers pockets. This company is able to stay so competitive because they aren't spending billions on commercials and billboards. Because of that, I'm happy and am currently paying for their low cost auto insurance.

I got very close to purchasing their auto insurance, however, I went with another company. Although Wawanesa offered a slightly better rate, the process to obtain coverage wasn't as easy as what other companies had offered. For example, they only accept paper application via mail for a first time purchaser. So it took them about 10 days to receive my application and for them to direct my application to the right department, i.e. underwriting. They said all mails go to one big pot, it then takes ... a day or two to sort the mails, another day or two for the mails to be distributed to the right department, and finally, a couple of more days for the underwriting to review my application. Also there are no flexible methods of payment - they would not accept payment online or via phone. They only accept checks, which made the process even more difficult. I think it's because Wawanesa is a smaller company and doesn't have the resources of modern technology. So I went with a different company and the entire process took less than 2 days. More Less

When I saw the commercials for Wawanesa and they said "you are family" I thought no insurance company is that good. But I was wrong! We switched to Wawanesa after I got into my first accident and it was cheaper than what we were paying before with our prior insurance company. They had great deals and low rates.

The staff at our agents location were excellent. When ever we would come in for anything they would stop whatever it was they were doing to help us and they made sure that ... they had taken care of and answered every question before we walked out the door. They also made us aware of all the different products they have without being a pushy sales person. We have along with our auto insurance, renters insurance, life insurance on both me and my husband, and personal articles insurance such as our wedding rings. And with all of that we are paying the same as we were when we were with our other company just having our one car insured.

The other thing that Wawanesa does that a lot of other insurance agents don't is that they offer dividends at the end of the year if the company has done well and didn't have an overage of claims in the previous year. We started our insurance in the middle of the year and the beginning of the next year we got a check from them! That was awesome.

And lastly our agent calls us every couple months to check in with us and to review our policy with us. I love that they do this because sometimes there are things that I want to change or add but don't always think to do it.

My husband and I love Wawanesa and we aren't planning on switching insurance company's any time soon.

Wawanesa's higher standards of who they insure help keep their standards of insurance and service so high. I used to be with a company that kept raising my rates for so reason. I didn't mind until I realized the amount I was paying surpassed the quality of insurance I was receiving. It took one claim for me to realize that my old company was not worth it. I've been with Wawanesa for a year now, and they definitely deliver when you need them to.

I've read so many bad reviews about Wawanesa that I was worried when I had to file a claim. I didn't look up reviews when I applied, only when I had to file a claim. My car was hit while parked on the side of the road and there were some damages. The claims department has some pretty nice reps. In the end, they denied my claim but they really were courteous about it. It stinks that I had to cover the damages, but such is life. You win some ... you lose some. More Less

Wawanesa is a decent insurance company. I've filed one claim in the three years I've had them, and they handled it pretty well. Everything was done quickly and I was compensated for the damages done to my vehicle. I only paid a small deductible, which wasn't too bad. They are a little on the pricey side, though. I don't like new things because switching is such a hassle, so I've stayed with Wawanesa even though they can break the bank. Not too bad, though. I'd recommend them if you have ... the money. This company is horrible to deal with. I was rear ended by a driver who has Wawanesa (I have another insurance company) and they literally did everything in their power to not pay out. My sister was in the passenger seat, and I have another witness. The other driver was CLEARLY at fault, but I guess that doesn't matter. After fighting with Wawanesa's claims department for almost two months, I gave up. So much for good insurance!

It's appalling that a company can treat its customers a certain way and still be in business. I've seen many businesses like this fail, but for some reason Wawanesa is still going strong. Since they don't do applications online, I sent mine in. It took THREE WEEKS to get a response back from them. Since they rely on customers money, you'd think they'd be a little more prompt than that. They also didn't answer my four phone calls over those last two weeks. I wanted to make sure they'd received ... my application, but it was a bust. I felt like I couldn't trust them and went elsewhere with my insurance. More Less

Wawanesa is definitely geared towards drivers with perfect records. When I first got their insurance a few years ago, my record was spotless. Not even a speeding ticket. I got into a small fender bender driving out of a grocery store parking lot, and wham, up my rates went. I mean, up up up. My premium was almost doubled, which is absolutely insane. I don't know about you, but I can't afford to pay that much on car insurance. I have other bills and three kids to support. I'm currently ... getting quotes from other companies and will switch when my policy is up. More Less

Wawanesa used to be a wonderful, reliable company. I originally got them years ago because their rates were so low. No one could compare. But starting two years ago, my rates have steadily increased. Now, they are almost fifty percent more than what they used to be. I called them and they stated that it was just a regular increase in insurance premiums. I like them as a company, but not when I'm paying an arm and a leg.

I have had Wawanesa for about 5 years now and yes, I'm a happy customer. I know there aren't too many positive reviews out there, so my scenario just might be the diamond in the rough. In the 5 years I've had Wawanesa, they've been a great asset to my family. I have added my husband when we got married, took off his car a year later, and added his new vehicle to the mix. They were great in every aspect, and I couldn't recommend them more.

Wawanesa has just horrible customer service. They must not keep a central system anywhere in the offices, because no one can look up your records. I called after filing an application and was told that they had yet to receive my application. I explained that I had already gotten notice back that, yes, they did get my application. I asked my rep to look into their system just to confirm, and he denied me. Needless to say, they were rude and I didn't want to pay them my hard earned ... money. More Less

I am not a customer of Wawanesa's. But I feel this great urge to share my experience because it was so bad. I called Wawanesa's office to get a quote and wow, they have some baaaad eggs working there. I called two separate times (a month apart) for quotes, spoke to two different people, and got the same level of customer service from both of them. They seemed very rude, arrogant, and not people I'd like to do business with. They obviously did not want me as a customer and ... it showed. More Less

My agent was so great when I got into an accident. The claims adjustor determined that my car was a total loss in the accident. It was not at my fault, so my claim came through and was going to cover the expense of a new car. My agent kept telling me I'd get the check by a certain date, and when I didn't get it in time, I was very disappointed. I know it wasn't directly my agents fault. He was courteous and polite the entire time, so kudos ... to him. More Less

Best customer service! I've filed two separate auto claims with Wawanesa, and I can't even tell you how wonderful they've been. Both times they handled my claim and had it paid out quickly. They also gave me fair compensation- I can't complain. The customer care you get with this company is outstanding. I never thought an insurance company would treat me so well.

Wawanesa is tops when it comes to filing claims! For the 15 years I've had them for auto insurance, unfortunately, I've had to file 3 claims. None of which were my fault. Wawanesa and its claims representatives were so amazing and they treated me so well. I knew I wouldn't have an issue any of the times because they've been so great all along. In 15 years, I haven't run into anything bad with Wawanesa, and I am still a satisfied customer.

Wawanesa offers a deal for young adults. At 22, insurance can get crazy expensive. As a student, I only work part time, so I need something affordable. They were the lowest quote I'd gotten and have continued to be reliable and affordable for me. I've even had two of my friends switch over because they need something more affordable as well. We really appreciate Wawanesa making insurance rates more reasonable for us young adults, when it is very hard to find.

I have been with Wawanesa for MANY years... I have gone to other companies, only to come back to them. I now have my whole family as well as friends on Wawanesa. When my teen son got into an accident, they were out the next day, and I was happy to find out that my rates didn't go up that much - even with being a new teen driver! They have been very good about staying connected to us as clients, and they make sure that we understand the costs ... of any changes that we have needed to make. SUPER COMPANY! More Less

I personally do not have Wawanesa but my sister does. They are very prompt! When my sister had an auto accident a while back, we were really impressed with their agents' efficiency getting back to us. As we all have experienced at one point, whenever there's claims involved or what not, these insurance companies play phone tag or sometimes not even get back to you at all. Great customer service!

If you happen to move to a different state while insured by Wawanesa, you're in for a headache. First off, the customer service representatives are not on the same page. I was told multiple things about how to transfer my insurance from one state to the other. Then, there were some issues about adding a person to the policy. Apparently, according to Wawanesa, any person who lives with you may drive your car and need to be covered under your insurance. Are you kidding, I have three roommates! There's no ... way I was paying for them to be on my insurance. They have their own cars. Wawanesa's policies are unbelievable. More Less

Wawanesa has amazing customer service. I was traveling to look after a sick friend when my car was hit by some debris on the highway. Something hit my front and caused a bit of a dent. When I got to my destination, I called Wawanesa to report the damages. They were so courteous. They asked if I needed a rental (which I didn't) and let me know that they would take care of the claim as soon as I arrived home. They kept true to their word. Working with them ... was a blessing and I'm happy to be their customer. More Less
