Chase Ink Classic Business Credit Card Review

Who is Chase's Ink Plus Business Card Designed For?

The Ink Plus Business Card is for small business owners who want to maximize the travel rewards they receive on business expenses. Although the annual fee is high, the rewards and perks it offers are well worth the investment.

What are the Rates?

The rates are competitive for a travel rewards card: 15.24% APR on purchases and balance transfers, and 19.24% APR on cash advances and overdraft advance. However, the penalty rate if you miss a payment is no joke: 29.99% APR plus up to $78 in fees.

What Are the Fees?

There's only one thing not to like about this card: high fees. It has an annual fee of $150, which is waived the first year, $15 or 5% (whichever is greater) in cash advance fees, and $5 or 3% in balance transfer fees. Members who are late on their payments have to pay $39 plus another $39, if the payment is returned. As you would expect from a travel rewards card, Ink Plus does not charge a fee on foreign transactions.

What Is the Rewards Program Like?

Ink Plus allows cardholders to link their points to Ultimate Rewards, Chase's award winning travel rewards program. The card focuses on saving business owners money on everyday expenses. For instance, they can earn up to five points for every dollar spent on office supply shores, cellular phones, land-lines, internet and cable services.

Cardholders can also earn double points for every dollar spent at gas stations and hotels. All other purchases earn a fixed 1 point for every dollar. There is no limit on how many points you can earn, and the points never expire.

Members can redeem points as cash back, used them to buy merchandise or book flights, hotels, car rentals and other travel purchases through Chase's Ultimate Rewards program. If you prefer cash back, Ink Plus allows you to redeem your points for cents at a 1:1 value. For instance, 50,000 points is worth a $500.

What about the Signup Bonus?

Ink Plus has one of the biggest signup bonuses available. If you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first three months, you receive 50,000 points.

Any Other Benefits?

Where to start? Ink Plus members receive complimentary trip cancellation insurance, travel accident insurance, auto rental collision damage waiver, roadside dispatch, baggage insurance, price protection and extended warranty. Cardholders also receive a 20 percent discount on airfare, hotels, car rentals and other travel-related purchases when they book through Chase's Ultimate Rewards program. Plus they can transfer their points to other popular travel programs, such as Marriot Reards, Southwest Rapid Rewards and MileagePlus United.

How Is It Better Than Other Credit Cards?

Chase's Ink Plus card is simply one of the best travel rewards business cards around, It provides high reward ratios on purchases, great travel benefits, generous purchase protection perks and has competitive rates.

Yes, it does have one of the most expensive annual fees around, but most small business will be able to rack enough points in a month or two to cover the cost.
