I've done some pretty extensive research on the Jackson National Perspective II variable annuity product that includes living benefits and death benefits. The product itself sounds like a dream - everything available all in one place with flexibility, liquidity, etc. However, when you start to peel apart the layers of the product's bells and whistles, it's one of the most cumbersome products I've ever seen! I would be surprised if any of those who own one of these policies understands what they have, and how much they're paying for it.
