Who is Capital One's QuicksilverOne Credit Card For?

QuicksilverOne is Capital One's cash back rewards card for people with average credit who still need to build their credit. Those with excellent credit can apply for prime cards, such as Capital One's Quicksilver card, which include a signup bonus and lower interest rates. That's not to say the QuicksilverOne card is a bad card. On the contrary, it's ideal for people who want a decent cash back card, have a small credit balance to repay, and need to improve their credit score.

What are the Interest Rates?

The interest rate is set at 23.24% for cash advances and balance transfers, once the introductory offer expires. There is no penalty rate, so rates don't change when cardholders are late in their payments. There is a penalty fee to consider though.

What Are the Fees?

QuicksilverOne has a $39 annual fee, a $10 or 3% cash advance fee and no balance transfer fee. The $39 annual fee may be a hard pill to swallow for many, but the rewards program is generous enough to justify it.

What Is the Rewards Program Like?

The rewards program is a straightforward cash back program. Cardholders get 1.5% cash back one every purchase they make. No revolving categories, bonus points, preferred merchants or other gimmicks, just plain 1.5% cash back. Cardholders need to spend $220 a month to break even on the annual fee, but anything over is money in their pockets. Spend $1,000 a month, and you will get $180 in cash back every year.

What about the Signup Bonus?

There isn't a signup bonus. If you have excellent credit, you can apply for Capital One's Quicksilver, which does come with a $100 signup bonus.

Any Other Benefits?

As with all Capital One cards, the QuicksilverOne includes fraud protection, free and unlimited access to credit scores, security and account alerts, and cardholders can choose their due date and method of payments. It also provides auto rental insurance, extended warranty, travel accident insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, and price protection on purchases made with the card.

How Is It Better Than Other Credit Cards?

The QuicksilverOne provides a generous cash back rewards rate that people with just average credit can qualify for. It also packs a 0% introductory APR offer, while still managing to keep the annual fee low. In other words, it manages to be a decent cash-back card, balance transfer card and credit building card, while still remaining accessible to those with less than great credit.

Look at your statement closely. They recklessly charge you a penalty even if you are not late. This happened to me last month and they took off the fee. I will call them again tomorrow because I see the same error on my current statement.

Love this card! Not only am I building my credit, which is good news enough, I also get great rewards, which are 1.5% cash back on every purchase I make!! Then if you add in the fact that you can transfer in higher interest cards for the zero percent introductory interest and you've got an amazing card.

I have what is actually good credit, but I figured since this one said average credit, that it would be good to try applying for it. That way I would have less of a risk of not getting approved, which has happened in the past and has created the problem of lowering my credit score, which I'm trying so desperately to raise! I got a pretty good credit limit to start--most likely from my good credit standing.

I had another card that will remain nameless and the rewards expired! I hadn't read the fineprint and one day they were gone. Right before I was going to use them, of course! I couldn't get them back, so I canceled the card and applied to this one where rewards never expire!!!

Really nice card that gives you a lot of perks for just being for average credit. I've been enjoying collecting a lot of points with the 1.5% cash back.I'm collecting the cash back to cash in most likely for statement credit when I go on vacation this spring.

I have Capital One for my banking needs, and I really like this company! They do what they say they are going to do, so when I saw the offer for this card and the fact that they have no blackout dates on travel, etc., I believed them. I was right to! I just used my points to book a trip to Hawaii exactly when I want to go!

Love this card in so many ways! I like the 1.5% cash back when you spend; the low annual fee; and maybe best of all access to my credit score and their credit score simulator that tells you how to improve your credit and spending so that you can apply to even better cards with Capital One!

Because I get points for all sorts of things when I use this card, I use it all of the time! It's nice to just know that whenever I pull out the card, I will be rewarded for doing so. The annual fee of $39 isn't too bad, either. Many cards that give to people with okay credit and give rewards also charge out of this world fees--not Capital One.

I did what they said and paid my bill on time for five months in order to get a higher credit line than the $500 I started out with. Well, I did get an increase month 6 to $1000! Now I'm hoping for another in another five months or so. My credit score is also going up, which I know thanks to access to my score with this card.

Good card for building credit. I applied and got a decent sized credit limit and the APR is okay. I am really excited, though, about the fact that I have raised my score 20 points in just three months of using this card wisely. My only regret is not getting the card sooner!

Just got off the phone with customer service, which was really friendly, BTW, and I am so relieved. I was afraid that since I was late once in paying--even though I've been paying religiously for 8 months--that I would be penalized on my APR, but not so! So glad, because I love this card. I do have to pay a late fee, but that's okay. :)

This card does have an annual fee of $39, but the generous rewards program more than makes up for that. The zero percent introductory rate I got also helped me pay off some high interest credit cards. I would highly recommend this card for anyone who is trying to get on track with finances.

Many cards limit cash back or have a lot of things you can't get credit for, but this card is very straight forward and very friendly to the person trying to build credit and stay steady with it. I love how the rewards don't expire and you can redeem them whenever you want.

My story is kind of long, but I have to run thorugh it for you to get the significance of what I'm about to tell you. I was in a terrible car accident about five years ago. At the time, I had about 20,000 in credit card debt. I had real trouble after the accident for quite some time. I was healing, let alone working. As a result, my credit card payments got behind and I suffered as a result of that. I did manage to work out some plans ... and have been paying back the credit cards. The one thing I've noticed is that not all payoffs or credit cards are necessarily good for your problem. I did find, however, that this card is good for raising your credit score! They start out by giving you a very small credit limit and then you go from there by paying on time or early. As this goes on, you get increasinlgly high credit limits and your score keeps rising More Less

Great card with many perks! I especially like the 1.5% cash back on any type of purchase with no limit. It's also really nice that there aren't any confusing changing categories. And then top it off with the zero percent interest rate you get on balance transfers for the first months and you've got a winner!!

I was really shocked when my credit limit nearly quadrupled after I hit my five mark month of having the card and paying on time! I went from $300 to $1100 credit limit, which is the highest I've had since I had difficulties with my credit! And my score is rising steadily--it's now at 640!

I love the fact that I got this card in the first place. My credit score is only 600, so I wasn't sure if that was considered average. I did get a card with $800 limit, but since then after paying on time, it's now at $1200. I also took advantage of the introductory no interest offer. And then there are the great points you earn whenever you buy!

I knew when I applied for this card that if I got approved and paid on time for five months that they would raise my credit limit, so that's why I wasn't too concerned when they gave me a low credit limit of $300 to start. It actually was good for me, as it didn't freak me out. Well, after paying on time--early actually--for five months they did up my credit limit--to an incredible $2100!!!
