What insurance discounts does Mapfre auto insurance offer?

When you ask for an insurance quote with Mapfre auto insurance, make sure you ask for all the insurance discounts you qualify for. These are the insurance discounts currently available that are specific to car insurance.
  • Alternative Fuel / Hybrid: For some reason, possibly because they drive fewer miles, people who own hybrids or alternative fuel vehicles pose a lower insurance risk. If your car is green, make sure you earn the rewards.
  • Anti-Lock Brake System: ABS technology reduces uncontrolled skids and insurance premiums. Most cars have them but it's an insurance discount people often forget to ask for.
  • Daytime Running Lights: This is an insurance discount you may not have heard of but it is becoming more commonplace. Daytime running lights make you more visible and to drivers and pedestrians, which reduces accidents.
  • Emergency Response System: Emergency Response Systems can protect you by turning off the fuel and unlocking the doors in an accident. Other types alert a response center so you get medical help faster.
  • Internal Safety Features: Mapfre auto insurance offers additional savings if you have seatbelts, airbags, and similar safety features. Ask what other safety features on your car will trigger an inurance discount.
  • Low Annual Mileage: If you don't put many miles on your car (typically under 15,000 miles a year) you may qualify for an insurance discount.
  • New Vehicle: If you buy a current year or previous year model, you will qualify for an insurance discount on your premium.
  • Telematics Device (Usage-Based Insurance): You can qualify for an insurance discount if you agree to install a sensor that records your driving habits.

How does MAPFRE Insurance calculate insurance rates?

Car insurance companies guard their risk-assessment algorithms as a trade secret, and MAPFRE Insurance is no exception. However, you can be confident that Mapfre auto insurance will take into consideration your driving record, age, gender, marital status, and address.
Other factors it will take into consideration are your vehicle (make and model), insurance history, and how you use your car.

Does Mapfre auto insurance use your credit score?

It is safe to assume that, when legal, a car insurance company will use your credit score as a rating factor. There are two exceptions.
  1. If you live in California, Hawaii, or Massachusetts, a car insurance company is not allowed to use your credit report as a rating factor.
  2. There are also a handful of car insurance companies that base their insurance rates exclusively on telematic data. These companies collect information on your driving behavior and use it to determine the risk you pose as a driver.

  • Visit the MAPFRE Insurance website.
  • Fill out the insurance online quote application form. You will typically need to provide personal information, such as your name, vehicle, driver's license, and address.

Message from Mapfre auto insurance

MAPFRE Insurance helps to protect you, your car and other types of vehicles in 14 states across the country. As a leading auto insurance carrier, we know how important it is to get the right coverage at an affordable price. MAPFRE Insurance offers a variety of discounts to ensure that you’re getting the most value out of your policy. Liability coverage is required car insurance in most states. There are two types of liability coverage – bodily injury liability coverage and property damage liability coverage. It typically helps cover damages for those injured or killed and incurred property damage as the result of an at-fault accident. Full coverage isn’t a type of insurance, but rather a description for a combination of insurance including liability, collision, comprehensive and sometimes medical payments coverage. It offers the most protection and is typically more expensive than minimum liability insurance alone.

Collision insurance is a type of coverage that helps cover damage to the insured’s car as a result of a collision. In an at-fault accident where the car is totaled, collision insurance can help compensate the policyholder for the value of the vehicle. In some cases, like in Massachusetts, collision damages to the insured’s vehicle may be covered whether at fault or not. Deductibles would apply. When you’re insured by MAPFRE, this coverage typically protects the insured and their vehicle from direct and accidental damage, outside of a collision with another car or object. Comprehensive coverage typically covers things like damage to the insured vehicle from extreme weather, vandalism, or theft. In an accident where the at-fault driver isn’t insured or doesn’t have enough insurance, uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage can help cover costly medical bills. UM / UIM coverage typically helps cover medical expenses the insured or their passengers sustain in the car accident when the other driver is uninsured or their insurance is insufficient. Medical payments coverage, sometimes called MedPay, usually helps pay for expenses related to necessary medical and funeral services for the insured, their family and their passengers following an accident, regardless of fault. In many states, MedPay is an optional addition to an insurance policy, but there are states where it is mandatory coverage. Sometimes called no-fault coverage, PIP is similar to MedPay in that it can help cover medical expenses. However, in some states, PIP is mandatory coverage. MAPFRE’s substitute transportation coverage can help cover the cost of a rental vehicle for the duration of repairs following an accident or while the insured shops for a new car. Towing and labor coverage can help cover costs up to a specified limit each time the insured car is disabled.
