Beware of Etrade by Morgan Stanley! Back in May 2025 E*Trade/Morgan Stanley froze my accounts due to questions regarding a wire transfer. I spoke to their specialized department and the restriction were cleared and released. Just recently E*Trade took it upon themselves to restrict the accounts agin for no apparent reason, except for needing to ask more questions about past actions on my account which were supposedly cleared up. ...Show More

I have used Etrade in the past and for the time I had it, I found it to be pretty good. There was nothing that really jumped out at me that I really enjoyed. I personally use E*Trade for the majority of my stock trades. It has been a faithful service to me throughout the years, boasting both a powerful web version (which Robinhood doesn't) as well as an intuitive mobile app. Because of this, it definitely take the cake in terms of best online brokerages.,

I rolled over a company 401k account to Etrade years ago and have self managed ever since. Etrade has great stock research and recommendations, as well as an easy/straightforward option platform. My biggest gripe with them is that their pricing quote always seem to be on a 15-20 minute delay. The summary listed is nice and all, but after you start using Etrade you find all the strange and really dumb things.
-Customer service- Great? Yes they respond, but they actually have never helped or answered a question I have. Rate: Poor
-Fool you to use margin account. They hide your cash balance on the screen and display your margin account so you accidently use the margin account.

I retired from the company I'd been with for many years and with whom I had a 401(K). I rolled it over into an IRA with E*Trade and didn't have to pay as much as I'd thought I would have to. I'm happy with the results. So far so good.

I think E*Trade's focus on building up their mobile experience is a really smart decision. Trading on the move and doing everything else you might do is going to become more and more common. They're already ready for that trend.

This is a great company - as long as you aren't looking for any help or advise. You really have to do your own research and studying to know how to invest your money because you wont get any help from them.

I have been using E-Trade forever and love everything about this company. They make everything so easy to use and understand, I can keep up to date while traveling, and their rates are the best.

I've been using E-Trade for a few years now and have mixed feelings about them. The desktop interface is just so dated and clunky. It's often frustrating to find what it is you're looking for. The user experience can be very unintuitive.
