Who is the Business Green Rewards Card For?

The Business Green Rewards Card is for business owners with fair to good credit who really want an American Express charge card with a rewards program and don't mind paying a high annual fee for the privilege. Although American Express cards do provide excellent customer service, business owners with good to excellent credit can probably qualify for business charge cards with better signup bonuses and rewards programs.

What are the Rates for Business Green Rewards Card?

As with all charge cards, all charges made within a given month are due when you receive your statement. Therefore there are no rates or balance transfers to worry about.

What Are the Fees for Business Green Rewards Card?

American Express' Business Green Rewards Card has a $95 annual fee, which is waived for the first year. It also has a 2.7% foreign transaction fee, which is disappointing for a card that markets itself as a travel rewards card and has such a hefty annual fee. A nice perk of the Business Green Rewards Card is that it doesn't charge a fee for additional employee cards. Late payments have a $38 or 2.99% fee, whichever is greater, and returned payments have a flat $38 fee.

What Is Business Green Rewards Card's Rewards Program Like?

Business Green Rewards Card members receive 2 points for every $1 they spend on American Express Travel website and 1 point for every $1 on all other purchases. Points can then be redeemed for travel purchases made on the OPEN Travel site and for over a million reward options at restaurants and retailers. The beauty of paying with points for travel expenses is that there are no blackout dates and you can still earn frequent flyer miles on your flights.

What about the Business Green Rewards Card Signup Bonus?

New cardholders receive a 5,000 membership rewards points once they make their first purchase with the card, as long as it is done within 12 months of opening the account. This is the equivalent of $50, which is a rather modest bonus for a card with a $95 annual fee.

Does the Business Green Rewards Card Have Any Other Benefits?

What the Business Green Rewards Card from American Express lacks in signup bonus and reward rates it makes up with generous shopping and travel benefits. These perks include roadside assistance, car rental loss and damage insurance, purchase protection, extended warranty, return protection and travel accident insurance.

How Is It Better Than Other Credit Cards?

American Express' Business Green Rewards charge card gives business owners with less than perfect credit access to the services and benefits of an American Express business card. It has useful and generous travel and shopping benefits and its annual fee is inexpensive compared to other American Express cards. The $95 annual fee is waived the first year, which gives business owners the chance to test-drive it for free.

This card has no pre-set spending limit, which gives flexible spending power to small and medium-sized companies. However, the balance on this card must be paid in full every month, so this is not a card for people who carry a balance on their business card. Its reward rates and signup bonus are modest, but competitive when compared to other card marketed to people with fair to good credit.

Most business cards, especially from Amex, require excellent credit, but It's possible to qualify for this card with fair credit, Bear in mind that this is a charge card, not a credit card, so balances must be paid up front. There is also a fairly hefty annual fee of $95, but it might be worth the price to be able to establish separate business credit.
