In 1880, Brookings, South Dakota entrepreneur Horace Fishback saw a need to serve a growing community with banking services. Horace and his uncle, Bert Olds, began a check-cashing station at the back counter of their general store. What began as a small venture has grown into one of South Dakota’s largest privately-held companies—Fishback Financial Corporation (FFC)—the holding company for First Bank & Trust. On November 2, 1925, Security National Bank became the Fishback family's first independent community bank. Today, we serve 17 thriving communities in South Dakota and Minnesota with 22 bank locations.
