Message From Public Service Credit Union

Public Service Credit Union is Fort Wayne’s oldest Credit Union, founded in 1932. Public Service Credit Union’s history began with Clarence Hensch. Clarence worked for NIPSCO and started lending money out of his own pocket to fellow employees during the Great Depression. Clarence founded Public Service Credit Union out of his home and the first loan granted by the credit union was for $25 to purchase a cow. Since then, the credit union has expanded and now anyone who lives or works in Allen county is eligible to become a member.  Over the years other credit unions have joined with Public Service Credit Union in an effort to provide competitive products and services as well as great rates and exceptional service to all members.  A few of those credit unions include Kunkle, Eckrich, Essex, Indiana Postal, Peoples & Employees, and Pinnacle Credit Union. Today, Public Service Credit Union has two locations in Fort Wayne, one on Jefferson Blvd across from Jefferson Pointe and the other located on Old Trail Road in Waynedale.  PSCU is a full-service financial institution with approximately 5000 members and $65 million in assets. The credit union is a not-for-profit financial co-operative and is owned and operated by its members. Unlike banks whose profits are returned to its stockholders, a credit union’s profits are returned to members through lower interest loans, higher dividends and low-cost services. You can become an equal member/owner of Public Service Credit Union by opening a savings account with just $5. Anyone who lives or works in Allen County is eligible to become a member and experience the credit union difference.
