Reverse mortgages are loans that use home equity to offer homeowners more financial freedom and flexibility. These loans are for homeowners aged 62 and older and can be used to eliminate monthly mortgage payments.* They can also provide extra cash to help pay for other expenses like travel, medical care and home repairs or anything the homeowner wants. At Primary Residential Mortgage, Inc., we offer a specific type of reverse mortgage called a HECM. HECM stands for Home Equity Conversion Mortgage. It is an FHA mortgage that is federally insured, which means it offers borrowers more protection than a non-HECM loan. Homeowners can now use a HECM to purchase their primary residence. This loan lets you combine a HECM with the proceeds from the sale of a previous home or other assets to purchase a new home while eliminating monthly mortgage payments.
