I have tried Mass Mutual twice over the years. Both times I left my money with them too long. They charge unbelievably high fees and erode your savings. The first experience was a MM mutual fund. My family purchased a $500 share in the 1990s ... it was worth $125 when I finally pulled it in 2016. Think about how much that should have grown. In the second experience I was forced into MM by a company 401k. It sat at $20k for ...
4 years. I'm finally rolling it out to another plan. It has been hard to do because they don't offer any information or support online for rolling out of their plans. And the phone contact hours are limited and hold times are quite long.
If you have a choice avoid them at all costs. I would have been better to put cash under my mattress.
If you don't think you have a choice (401k) talk to your HR and manager and propose that they change to something reasonable. Keep in mind that they would be stuck with this too so they should want to help everyone get a better deal.
"Highest standard of care"... yeah right, I did not have a good experience with their lack of customer service.
This financial powerhouse company has been around for a long time, and it shows by the excellent customer service they provide you and the superior products. I decided to take charge of my financial future and went to them to place some investments. I went with rolling over some IRAs and mutual fund investing. Great experience.
I've been happy since using this company, which I started to do about five years ago. I find that the website works really well and usually answers any questions that I have. The customer service is also usually pretty good. Their investment options are also multiple.
Happy that I took a friend's advice and got some mutual funds and a 529 plan from this company. Things have been running very smoothly, and it was so much easier than I ever imagined. If I'd known it was going to be this easy, I would have tried it a long time ago!
Not only does Mass Mutual have great products and great service, their website is also excellent. I am a reader and like to prepare myself before I make any financial moves, so this fact really helps me. I like how they have the website set up in such a way that you can search for your particular financial goals and then it directs you to what you should do and explains things--for instance what is a 529 plan and an ETF.
I started out with this company because my former employer used them for the 401(K) plan. Even though I stopped working for that employer, I stayed with the company because I have never felt totally confused with their products and services, like I have with other companies.
I have Mass Mutual Life Insurance, so I figured why not try out their investments. Well, it's been good and bad. The good is that I think they have really easty to understand procedures and help. The bad, which probably isn't their problem, is that my investments haven't done all that well. Most likely a sign of the times.
I didn't have a choice to use Mass Mutual or not - they are just who my employer offers the 401k plan through. But I will tell you one thing - I think they are the most helpful and knowledgable people about all this investment stuff. Im happy to have them on my side.
The folks working at this place are so helpful! I admit feeling a little dumb when it came to investing, but they explained everything so perfectly that I now feel so much more confident. I have been dabbling in a variety of investments with their guidance, figuring out what is in my wheelhouse.
I wanted to do some more investing and decided that I'd like to try ETFs. Considering that I didn't know much about them, I wanted to go to a company that would do a little hand holding to guide me while I got my feet wet. Mass Mutual was the perfect choice. They were happy to walk me through the entire process.
I was advised by my accountant to look into getting some annuities. It all sounded like Greek to me, since I didn't even know what an annuity was. I went to Mass Mutual and soon became an expert in annuities and much more. I am so grateful to have found them and to now have annuitites that are helping with my financial and tax situation.
I've been investing for awhile but was having a really hard time figuring out how to best diversify. I read a lot about it and tried a few things, but I was really at a loss. I decided to move some investments to Mass Mutual and was pleasantly surprised by their customer service, which helped me figure out diversifying. The website is also helpful and easy to use.
I've been pretty pleased with MassMutual. I know they also sell life insurance, so I am not always sure what their main focus is, but I think they do a pretty good job of spreading themselves out. I have IRAs with them and a 529 and am getting an annuity. Good choice.
I like how this company doesn't have shareholders but is essentially owned by people who invest in their financial end and their insurance end. To me this shows that the company is truly committed to the welfare of the people who are investing and insuring, not some bigwigs trying to get rich.
I'd been hearing about 529 plans forever and honestly had little idea what the heck they were, except they had something to do with investing for my kid's college. A friend suggested that I try out Mass Mutual to get a 529 going. I took her advice and I'm so glad I did. I understand them now and have one for my daughter!
These people really know what they are doing and talking about. If you have a financial question and want to know the best steps to take to figure out what you need to do next in terms of your finances, I would recommend calling them. They will explain everything in plain terms so you can make the best choice for you.
I didn't have a clue as to what I was doing when I first looked at the Mass Mutual site. I had a large sum of money from an inheritance given to me by my grandparents. I didn't want to blow the money as I'd seen a friend do when she got money from her mother's estate. So I figured the best thing to do would be to invest. I went to Mass Mutual and they guided me through what to do. They never told me what to do, but ...
they gave me options. Thanks Mass Mutual! Now my inheritance is safe and making me money for my future, which is what was intended by my grandma and grandpa!
I wanted to get into mutual funds and had hear that Mass Mutual was the place to go. I would agree. Their service is impeccable and their products are great. I am now well into investing in mutual funds and am finding it to be very enjoyable. Part of the reason it is is because of the great service they provide, which includes explaining things well.
Great company that can help you with all of your investment needs! I love how it is a one-stop shop for anything. So while you're getting your investments nailed down you can look into life insurance and then disability and long term care. This is imporrtant, because how much you pay for insurance greatly affects your investment bottomline.
Pretty good place they have here. I rolled over a couple of IRAs. They helped me do it, and it didn't take too much time at all. I will most likely next try some mutual funds. I have had pretty good service from them. Most of the people I talk to are helpful. There are always those duds, though.
I was a participant in a company sponsored 401k plan for several years that used Mass Mutual as their 401k company. I found that their website was very informative for someone who didn't know much about retirement funds. I also attended several of their educational seminars and found them to be very informative as well. Overall, I really enjoyed working with Mass Mutual, trusted them completely with managing my money, and would definitely recommend using them in the future.
MassMutual is a one-stop shop when it comes to builidng your financial future and protecting it. They can assist with IRA rollovers or help you open one. They also have annuities, exchange-traded funds and 529 plans. I'm able to do everything I need with them.
I've had a fairly good experience with this company. I'd been a little leery since they are really big in the insurance area and I didn't want them trying to talk me into an insurance policy--since I don't need one. They didn't do that, and my investments that I ended up with are doing fairly well.
I like having IRAs through MassMutual because I feel like this company really cares, and whenever I have a question, they are always there to help. If you want premium care and services, this is the best place to get that. Their website is also easy to understand.
Doing some major retirement planning now that I'm in my late 40s and this company kept coming up again and again as a good place to start to consolidate my various investments and get a move on. I have to say that it was a good choice. They have just about anything you'd need to make good investments.
Nice place. They have a variety of investment options to fit just about any portfolio, as well as guidance if you need it. The whole process is pretty transparent and seamless, and they have a good website that I find really easy to navigate and understand. i would recommend them to amateur and more serious investors.
