Who is The Business Gold Rewards Card Designed For?
The Business Gold Rewards Card is designed for business owners with good to excellent credit who are looking for a charge card with no pre-set spending limit, high reward rates, and generous travel and shopping benefits. It is particularly attractive for businesses that spend a lot on airfare, gas, shipping and advertising. As with all charge cards, The Business Gold Rewards Card must be paid in full every month, so this is not a card for businesses that need to carry a balance.
What are the Rates for The Business Gold Rewards Card?
- The Business Gold Rewards Card is a charge card not a credit card. This means all charges made on the card are due when you receive a statement and there aren't APRs to worry about as with regular credit cards. Of course, it also means that you can't carry a balance. In order to pay for a purchase in installments, members must first request from American Express® the use of its Pay Over Time Feature, in which case interest will be charged.
What Are the Fees for The Business Gold Rewards Card?
The Business Gold Rewards Card has a $175 annual fee, which is waived the first year. This is a hefty fee for a charge card, but the generous rewards program and travel benefits can easily pay for the annual fee. The card has no foreign transaction fee, a $38 returned payment fee and a late payment fee of $38 or 2.99% of the past due amount: whichever is greater.
What Is The Business Gold Rewards Card's Rewards Program Like?
The Business Gold Rewards Card gives members 3 points for every dollar spent on one of five categories and 2 points for every dollar on the remaining categories. The categories include airfare, advertising, purchases at gas stations, shipping and computer hardware and software. All other purchases earn 1 point for every dollar. Notice that the bonus reward rates only apply to the first $100,000. Once that cap is reached the reward rate drops to 1 point per dollar.
The rewards program allows members to redeem points for everyday business expenses, toward travel costs or as a way to reward employees or wine and dine their clients.
What about The Business Gold Rewards Card's Signup Bonus?
The Business Gold Rewards Card gives new members 50,000 points once they spend $5,000 within the first 3 months of opening the account. That is roughly the equivalent of a $500 cash bonus.
Does The Business Gold Rewards Card Have Any Other Benefits?
Travel and shopping benefits are the strongpoints of The Business Gold Rewards Card. It includes all the usual suspects, such as baggage insurance plan, a travel accident insurance, global travel assistance, roadside assistance, car rental loss and damage insurance, purchase protection and extended warranty. It includes useful expense management tools that make it easy to set boundaries on your employer spending and stay on top of your business expenses, such as ReceiptMatch and the ability of synchronizing your charge card to QuickBooks. American Express® also gives you the option of assigning a business partner or employee full or limited access to manage your account.
How Is The Business Gold Rewards Card Better Than Other Credit Cards?
The Business Gold Rewards Card offers small business the flexibility of increasing their purchasing power and earn big on the categories they spend the most on. Redeeming rewards is easy and the card includes valuable shopping and travel benefits. The high annual fee and foreign transactions are a drawback, but the perks, generous signup bonus, and the triple and double points quickly pay for themselves.
