If you're a loyal State Farm insurance or bank customer, the State Farm Crystal Rewards Visa Signature® card provides potentially lucrative rewards. Otherwise, not so much. Consumers seeking generous rewards programs would do well to look elsewhere.

Who Is the State Farm Crystal Rewards Visa Signature® Card Designed For?

The State Farm Crystal Rewards Visa Signature® card is a regular consumer credit card. It is not designed for students or for business use.

Are There Annual Fees?

The annual fees are 30 dollars.

Does the State Farm Crystal Rewards Visa Signature® Card Offer Rewards?

Cardholders receive 1 State Farm Dollar for every 1 dollar spent up to 10,000 dollars. Cardholders receive 1.5 State Farm Dollars for every 1 dollar spent over 10,000 dollars. State Farm dollars can be deposited into State Farm bank accounts, applied toward State Farm insurance premiums or used to purchase State Farm mutual funds or annuities. There is no limit to the amount of State Farm Dollars that can be earned, but they expire after three years. The FixPay program which allowed cardholders the option to transfer large balances to a special low APR installment payment plan has been suspended as of February 1, 2015.

Are There Foreign Transaction Fees?

Foreign transactions are subject to a 3 percent fee, payable in US Dollars.

Are There Late Payment or other Penalty Fees?

Late payments and returned payments are charged up to 35 dollars each. Cash advances are charged 10 dollars or 4 percent, whichever is greater. Balance transfers are charged 10 dollars are 3 percent, whichever is greater.

Summary

The State Farm Crystal Rewards Signature Visa card makes the most sense for customers of other State Farm insurance or financial products. If you have a large purchase which you intend to pay off within a year, getting this card could also be a savvy move. Otherwise, given the lack of rewards, individuals with good credit can get better deals elsewhere.
