About Torts

Torts are civil wrongs that result in injury or harm to another person, property, or reputation, and can result in legal liability. Torts can include things like negligence, defamation, and assault, and can arise in a variety of different contexts. For example, if a person is injured because a driver was careless behind the wheel, the injured person may be able to bring a tort claim against the driver for their negligence. Similarly, if a person's reputation is damaged because someone spreads false information about them, the person may be able to bring a tort claim for defamation.
