What we love about Walmart Credit Card

The Walmart Credit Card is a full credit card that you can use at Walmart and at other stores. The card offers rewards and benefits when you use it to shop at Walmart and Walmart.com. For example, you can earn 3% cash back on purchases that you make at Walmart.com and 2% cash back when you buy gas from a Walmart gas station. The card also has a low minimum credit limit, which may make it easier for people with poor or no credit to qualify, giving them a chance to start building credit.

What could Walmart Credit Card do better?

The greatest drawback of the Walmart Credit Card is that the card’s benefits mostly kick in when you make purchases at Walmart.com. You won’t earn elevated rewards when you shop in a physical Walmart. Instead, you’ll only earn 1% cash back when you shop in the store. There are many other credit cards that offer better rewards on purchases both in-store and online.
Even if you’re planning to use the card to build credit, there are some secured credit cards that offer similar or better rewards that you can use to build your credit history.

Walmart Credit Card‘s backstory

Walmart was founded in 1962 by Sam Walton. Since then, the company has grown to be the largest retailer in the world, operating more than 11,000 stores in more than 25 countries.
The company launched the Walmart Credit Card and Walmart Store Card to help customers pay for and finance the purchases they make at Walmart stores.

The Verdict

The Walmart Credit Card is a fine card but is relatively unexciting. If you do a lot of shopping at Walmart.com, you can earn solid rewards, but the card isn’t great for in-person shopping. Most people with good credit will be better off with a different card, even if they do most of their shopping at Walmart.
