Discover’s decade of excellence in LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion
For the tenth consecutive year, Discover has proudly achieved a perfect 100 score in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index. This accolade positions Discover as a standout leader among the 545 major U.S. businesses recognized for their LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion efforts in the current year.
The journey towards inclusion
Discover’s commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment is led by Jonita Wilson, chief diversity and social impact officer, who emphasizes the importance of a safe, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
“At Discover, we are on a journey to create an environment where every employee feels included and can bring the best version of themselves to work,” says Wilson.
Employee resource groups (ERGs)
Discover boasts eight employee resource groups, which play a crucial role in providing access, opportunity, and exposure for diverse employee populations. One of those ERGs is Pride, the group focusing on Discover’s LGBTQ+ community.
Under Pride, Discover actively supports LGBTQ+ inclusive practices, including backing the Equality Act, creating the Transgender, Non-Binary, and Gender Diverse Employee Advisory Council, and providing essential resources for gender transition.
“For well over two decades, businesses have played an important role in furthering LGBTQ+ equality by centering employee needs and voices when it comes to workplace inclusion,” says said RaShawn Hawkins, senior director of workplace equality at the Human Rights Campaign.
