Who is American Express®' Blue Sky Credit Card Designed For?

Blue Sky from American Express® is designed for people with excellent credit who want a flexible travel rewards program without having to pay an annual fee. Although the rewards rate is nothing to get excited about, Blue Sky points are worth more than regular reward points and it includes prime travel benefits few no-annual-fee cards offer..

What are the Rates for American Express®' Blue Sky?

The rate ranges from 17.49% APR to 22.49% APR depending on creditworthiness. This is high for a card that requires cardholders to have excellent credit. Definitely not a card for people who plan to carry a balance.

What Are the Fees for American Express®' Blue Sky?

Blue Sky has no annual fee and no over-limit fee. However, it does have the customary 3% fee with a $5 minimum fee on balance transfers and cash advances. What isn't so customary is its 2.7% foreign transaction fee, which is disappointing for a travel rewards card.

What Is American Express®' Blue Sky Rewards Program Like?

Blue Sky's flexible rewards program allows members to redeem points for statement credit on travel purchases, as cash back or for merchandise. The rewards rate is only 1x for all purchases, which is a little underwhelming for a travel card. However, Blue Sky points are worth more than standard reward points. For instance, it only takes 7,500 points to get a $100 credit statement on travel purchases. Eligible travel purchases include airfare, hotel stays, car rentals, cruises and most purchases made through a travel agent.

What about American Express®' Blue Sky Signup Bonus?

Currently there is no signup bonus.

Any Other Benefits?

Blue Sky offers all top-shelf benefits you expect from a prime card, but without charging an annual fee. This includes extended warranty on purchases, roadside assistance hotline, car rental insurance, travel accident insurance, a global assist hotline and exclusive access to many entertainment events.

How Is American Express®' Blue Sky Better Than Other Credit Cards?

Blue Sky from American Express® is a smart choice for prime consumers who want an everyday credit card that also offers travel rewards but don't want to pay annual fees. Although the rewards rate is low, its points are worth 33% more than those of regular reward programs and members can redeem them for travel purchases, cash back or merchandise.
