What we love about Mission Lane Classic Visa® Credit Card

Mission Lane Classic Visa® is a card for people with less than great credit who want to enjoy the perks of an unsecured credit card, such as complimentary auto rental insurance and zero fraud liability. It can also help rebuild your credit, if used wisely since it card reports to all three major bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion). Customers in good standing can receive higher credit lines after making six payments on time.

What could Mission Lane Classic Visa® Credit Card do better?

The annual fee, high APR, cash advance fee, and foreign transaction charges are the main drawbacks of this card.

Mission Lane backstory

Mission Lane was launched in 2019 as an offshoot of LendUp, a financial technology company. Both Mission Lane and LendUp target Americans who lack access to high-quality financial services, which is over half the population.

The Verdict

This is a good card for people with poor or fair credit who don't qualify for higher-end cards but don't want to pay a security deposit and need an instant credit decision. The higher credit lines available over time to diligent customers can be a big advantage for those trying to improve their credit score. On the other hand, it doesn't provide a rewards program and there are high fees to consider.

It was a great starter credit card to build credit. I started off with a $300 increase, after six month it went to $500, at 12 months, $1000 and then at 18 months to $1500. The first year had no annual fees. This year, I was charged a $59 fee. They’ve upgraded their app recently and it seems to work better for payments. It can be difficult reaching a human, ...Show More

Not sure what games they are playing? They gave me a card with a low limit compared to my other cards and a much higher rate? I was going to use it as a backup after I saw the interest rate they were charging, I called first to ask for a reduction they gave me a form NO! So I paid the card off and now they lock the card ...Show More

Mission Lane keeps changing the interest rate despite charging 29.99% in the beginning. They are now charging 34.99% interest. That's way over the Fed rate. It's close to fraud. Then they charge the annual fee all at once. Unless you are making xlarge payments you will get hit with the fees & interest in 1 month which will put you over the limit & be negative on your credit score. ...Show More

Mission Lane is not exactly a "new" company. They were first called "Lend Up" and had a red card, then transitioned to Mission Lane with the green cards. As a former employee, Mission Lane should not be in existence. Some procedures are absolutely ridiculous. If a cardholder wanted to update their phone number, they would have to email support@missionlane.com where an agent would inquire about the phone number, and then ...Show More

I've had several fraudulent charges applied to my card on a reoccurring basis, due to the my initial dispute not being rectified, after five months of complaints. I've had to continue to pay fraudulent charges because the company has yet to honor my disputes, or have yet to cancel and replace the card. This is the absolute worst credit card I've ever dealt with.

I would not get this card. you are better off getting a secured cc with a lower fee and still reports to all 3 credits. this card has Low credit line in turn can hurt you if you carry a balance over 30% and on top of that it has a high APR, a $75 annual fee. This card will hurt more than help. its just another monthly payment ...Show More

Thought was a good card for me and used it a few times and knew I was well under my card limit but when I checked my balance it was over the limit and now all I can do is pay the card. This card only gave me more debt. I'm now paying card interest, not for any purchases because I didn't get to really use it. Dissatisfied and Disappointing????

They do not offer a mobile app like many of their competitors. Customer service is difficult to work with comparatively as well. I would likely choose a cap one secured line instead, as it does not carry an annual fee.
