Review for Banco Popular de Puerto Rico Prestige Checking

Not many branches, even in PR. They are all mostly located in San Juan, if you live any where else, you will need to go to your closest location and they only have 4 other branches outside of the capital. The minimum balance required to avoid the monthly fee is astronomical comparing to other institutions and you don't get any incentives on why to bank with them. Overall it is ...Show More

Great sign up bonus and 3:1 miles on Avianca purchases. If you travel frequently with Avianca you may as well earn yourself a ton of miles, right?

Good sign up bonus with 2:1 miles on Avianca purchases. There are better cards out there but this is definitely a good card to have if you frequently travel with Avianca. You might as well get double points, right?

Review for Banco Popular de Puerto Rico Prestige Checking

Very bad banking. Bank survives because of PR government deposits and ATMs. Bank was involved in Money Laundering scheme. Only received slap on hand. Bank involved in selling of bad Government bond that are now in Chapter 3 and led PR to Bankruptcy.
