It may not have the bells and whistles of some other accounts, but for those seeking a straightforward and dependable checking experience, Truist is a solid choice. I never had any problems and it was a great place to have a basic checking account and a great choice to get my first credit card.

I had a truist account back when it was still also BB&T and I did not like banking with them. I could not get a debit card unless I had $100 or more in my account. Crazy fees if you did not do a certain amount of transactions in a month which I thought was very odd.

What I love most about this account is that it's designed to protect you from overdrawing your funds. Whenever there's a transaction that could potentially lead to an overdraft, the account simply declines it, no questions asked, and best of all, without charging any fees. The service did not match the $12 monthly fee, the $36 overdraft fee and all of the other fees that are included. They would harass you if they needed to get in contact with you; however, when you need to get in contact with them it was not met with the same urgency.
