I've been stuck with TIAA for over 20 years. The horrible outdated website, barely functional brokerage interface, pathetically minimal offerings on their brokerage service, and nearly useless research tools are incredibly frustrating. As a bonus, though, their new CEO is preaching woke nonsense to us in nearly every communication. If I weren't locked in by my company's 401k plan I'd change to almost anyone else.

I am a long time customer of TIAA but am shocked at their poor customer service and lack of technology, especially compared to their competitors. I have IRA accounts an a number of brokerage firms and TIAA is by far the worse. Last week I wanted to change the beneficiary of my IRA accounts. I have found TIAA to be a unique financial services company with a special commitment to client service. I was able to reach a TIAA representative during a period when hold times at other firms were endless. She took the time to answer all my questions and offered helpful financial advice.

Their statements are up to date and provide the right amount of information about the account status. This is easier to deal with than other companies which like to send a ton of pages with statistics and information that I don't understand and probably would not care about if I did. Being an amateur in investments, I was a bit skeptical about how to go about it. Luckily, I discovered TIAA Brokerage Brokerages which allowed me compare different options. I was convinced to choose a brokerage that allows me as the investor to make my investment decisions which includes picking what assets to invest my money in & diversifying my portfolio to cut risk.
