What we love about Lemonade Renters and Home Insurance
Lemonade is a relatively new online insurance provider that uses an unusual model to provide renters and home insurance. The company is a certified Public Benefit Corporation. It takes customer’s premium payments, uses the money to pay out claims and handle administrative costs, then takes the leftover funds and donates them to charity.
The company also has a user-friendly claims experience. If you need to file a claim, you can submit all the information through your phone. In many cases, Lemonade’s AI can instantly approve your claim. If it can’t, it refers your claim to a team of humans for consideration.
What could Lemonade Renters and Home Insurance do better?
Lemonade only offers homeowners, renters, and pet insurance policies. If you own a car and want to bundle auto insurance or want other types of coverage such as an umbrella policy, you’ll have to work with a different insurer.
Another drawback to consider is that Lemonade isn’t available in all states. Even if you want to buy coverage from the company, you may find that you live outside of its service area and can’t buy coverage.
