What we love about Fingerhut Credit Account

Fingerhut offers more than 450,000 products from popular brands through its website. Its credit account lets customers finance their purchases instead of paying for them upfront.
Fingerhut offers two credit accounts, the Advantage Credit Account which is available to those with a credit history, and the FreshStart Credit Account, which is a one-time use plan for people who can’t qualify for the Advantage Credit Account. This gives customers a chance to build their credit history.
The online application for a credit account is relatively quick and you can get an approval decision in minutes.

What could Fingerhut Credit Account do better?

One of the most significant drawbacks of the Fingerhut Credit Account is its cost. The account charges a much higher interest rate than most credit cards, making it a very expensive way to finance purchases. On top of the high rates, the FreshStart Credit Account includes a financing charge for each purchase, pushing the costs higher.
Additionally, you can only use the Fingerhut Credit Account at Fingerhut. While the store has a wide variety of products available for sale, this can be limiting if you’re looking for something that has the flexibility of a credit card.

Fingerhut Credit Account’s backstory

Fingerhut was founded in 1948 by Manny and William Fingerhut. The company got its start by selling seat covers for cars, later expanding its product line and moving into selling its products through catalogs.
Fingerhut partnered with WebBank to offer the Fingerhut Credit Account to help customers finance purchases.

The Verdict

If you shop at Fingerhut, the FreshStart Credit Account is a very expensive way to build credit. If you already have a credit card or don’t need to build credit, you won’t have much use for either of the Fingerhut Credit Accounts due to their high costs.

I have had a Fingerhut account for years and I'll tell you why. My credit WAS horrible, I was at a point in my life where I could barely afford a thing. Through Fingerhut, my credit has increased drastically. With every on-time payment that's made, they increase your line of credit. I went from about $250 line of credit to about $1000! I've bought a dollhouse, laptop and much more. ...Show More

Although the main concern about Fingerhut is the high interest in all their product, I would still recommend this company to people who are trying to build credit. Fingerhut is a great company that accepts a good amount of people who are building their credit from scratch or rebuilding their credit. They always give out credit line increases throughout the year, especially during holidays, and are great for getting gifts ...Show More

I started out with FingerHut when I was trying to build my credit up roughly 5 or so years ago. It gave me a decent line of credit when I had little, if anything, on my credit report. There are a few downsides to this credit card. You can only use it on their website or through their catalogue. While their catalogue is extensive, most of the products are overpriced ...Show More

The Customer Service is really unacceptable. Not to mention the HIGH Interest Rates. Dont get this card UNLESS you are desperate....and then pray you can dig yourself out of their ever-increasing 'Pit of Debt' ,.

I clozed my account literally 3 minutes ago and here's why. They give me this ridiculous credit line of $250 which if you have ever looked at Fingerhuts prices that does not allow you to buy much. Especially if your into electronics like I am. I sent them a email requesting a larger line of credit a couple of times telling them I was interested in buying a 55 inch ...Show More
