Who is the Platinum Edition Visa Card with Maximum Rewards Designed For?

The Platinum Edition Visa Card with Maximum Rewards is designed for people with fairly good credit who are looking for a flexible rewards cards with no annual fee that also offers a generous introductory APR.

Its 12-month 0% APR introductory rate on purchases and balance transfers makes this card a particularly good fit for people who are either planning to make a big purchase or have some credit card debt and want to repay it without worrying about interest.

What are the Rates?

The rate on purchases and balance transfers ranges from 10.24% APR to 18.24% APR depending on credit and income. This is nothing to write home about, but it has a 15-month 0% APR intro rate on purchases and balance transfers made within the first 45 days of opening the account. Cash advances have a 25.24% APR and late payments trigger a penalty rate of up to 29.99%.

What Are the Fees?

There is no annual fee but there is a high foreign transaction fee of 5% with a minimum of $15. Don't use this as your main card if you're traveling abroad. It also has a 3% balance transaction fee with a minimum of $10. The cash advance fee is 5% with a minimum of $10, which is higher than the customary 3%. The late payment fee is $37 and the returned payment fee is $35.

What Is the Rewards Program Like?

The Platinum Edition Visa Card with Maximum Rewards has a surprisingly flexible rewards program for a card with no annual fee and a competitive intro rate. The exchange rate is only 1 point for every $1 spent on all purchases, but there's no limit on the points you can earn and they only expire after 5 years.

Points can be redeemed for merchandise, book travel or as cash back in the form of a statement credit. This allows you to buy flights and travel with whichever airline you want without worrying about blackout dates or other restrictions.

What about the Signup Bonus?

There is no signup bonus.

Any Other Benefits?

Cardholders receive complimentary membership to FirstGuard, an identity theft protection service. They also get free 24/7 access to their FICO score and can personalize the card with their favorite image.

How Is It Better Than Other Credit Cards?

The Platinum Edition Maximum Rewards may be issued by a bank you've never heard of, but its features are certainly worth a second look. It combines the benefits of a 0% APR intro purchase and balance transfer card with those of a half-decent rewards card. All without paying an annual fee or stringent credit requirements.
