Trip planned for Caribbean. 3 days before our trip our island was in the path of a Cat 5 hurricane. Hotel said under a hurricane watch we would be asked to leave property. My trip was cancelled by the tour group due to lack of participation and the insurance company would not refund my Travel Insurance or allow me to use on another trip. Will never use them again.

Purchased Nationwide Travel Insurance to cover our cruise. Our granddaughter was hospitalized while we were at sea. My husband traveled back home. We filed a fully documented claim. The claim was approved but not paid for 5 months until we contacted the Bureau of Insurance for assistance. Cannot recommend this company.

STAY AWAY!!!! Last year we purchased the highest possible insurance we could because they covered anyone having covid. On January 13th my nephew who was part of our travel party came down with covid. So all 7 of us canceled. We were under the impression we were covered.

I purchased the insurance before an expensive journey to South Africa, Zimbabwe and Botswana. We had a clear travel interruption covered by the policy and have had to jump through one hurdle after another, resubmitting the same proof of loss paperwork repeatedly, constant "we are experiencing higher than normal claims activity" for the last 8 MONTHS! Purchased full travel coverage for our family to travel to Europe, after missing our return flights due to weather, I called Nationwide for advise and was told to purchase one way tickets on any flight I can find to get home. Filed a claim once home and 3 months later am told we were not covered for missing the flight.

The company's insurance policies claims are not respected in any way. They are just out there to rip off us our hard earned money without giving us it equivalent of services. Imagine a company that claimed to have a medical travel insurance policy and when there is occurrence of flight delay, there is no where to find provision for your ailing customer.

We had to cancel our planned beach vacation to Siesta Key, Florida in September, 2018 due to toxic red algae in the ocean that poisoned the air and killed fish at the beach. Nationwide DENIED our claim, despite appeals. Apparently they felt we could vacation indoors at the beach...
